you have 2 reps known as shop stewards  in your store.  Ask anyone who works in your store who they are and they can help you with your problem.  I have heard of people opting out of the union, it is not often but it does happen.

Send the president of your union a letter asking for resignation and explain kindly why you trying to leave you will get a reply. if you are getting out then they will stop deducting on your next anniversy of employment. i worked for me and my brother.

I know this is old reply but i just registered to this site. ived been working for 6 years going to make it 7 in october and been declined twice my letters and actually lied upon that they never received it even when i certified it and had there signature.

Here is what to do ... Type a paper and you dont need to explain nothing just say you want out of the union put your full name, middle name and last name and date it... make 5 total copies. one to your store manager, one to the district manager which you can give it to your store manager and ask him/her to give it to him/her. The third paper to human resources and the fourth one there is an adress on your paysub should be the colorado adress send it to there. And the last one to your union. But make sure it's certified also this is the big catch and i finally found out what you need to do after numerous times asking every union rep from all districts they all said the same thing. Send it 30-45 before your hire date. lets say you were hired dec 31 so make sure you send it to the union by dec 1 to nov 16 which makes it 30-45 before being hired.

Ps do this bc it will help .. talking to your union rep is sometimes you wont get the str8 answer and store managers half of the time don't know crap of what there saying. if this works let me know it should. i work in houston tx and im sure every rule applies nationwide . goodluck.
