Is Your Store Closed Christmas ?

Just curious. We first got a memo that said something to the effect that we would be operating on Christmas day as we used to about 8 years ago but then we got word that the memo was a mistake and that we would not be open this Christmas.

Got me wondering if any Kroger stores would be open ?

The ONE day my Kroger store is closed is Christmas day.

I think this is pretty standard for stores in my state (Texas).

When I was hired, we were told that "Kroger is open 364 days a year" and that the one day we aren't open for is Christmas day.

Enjoy the day off -- that's what I'd say.

I know we all need more hours . . . but maybe you ought to get a holiday job next season.

Do you fit into a Santa Claus suit?

They can't be open on Christmas day due to the fact that the union contract states that! Read the union contract that your given!

I'm glad we are closed on Christmas. Something has to be sacred. The true meaning of the holiday was lost a long time ago. The store I used to work at was open 365 days a year. I would never work on Christmas.

Night crew always get shafted for this. They'll make them come in at 4pm on christmas eve, so they won't have to pay holiday pay for working in christmas, and have them come in at midnight on christmas night again to avoid the same. They can technically say they had christmas off. Seniority rules in who gets to avoid that nightmare.

lol.  Our orders are dropped one day(or doubled one day however you look at it) on the Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks.  We get out on the eve at around 8:30 am.  Return after the holiday day off at midnight.  Last year I had the keys to the kingdom(actually, the store managers' keys!) so I could let night crew in on both returning days.
