Last week I had to sit through a 1 and 1/2 key retailing meeting about frozen food. In that whole time I didn't hear or see anything that I hadn't known in the 5 years Iv'e worked for Kroger. It seems to me that the money spent to hold those meetings would be better spent in the departments. Some Kroger bigwig said Key retailing ain't going anywhere it's here to stay. They seem to think Key retailing is a one size fits all solution for our stores.
And on another subject, at our store since school has started I'm losing 1-2 hours a day to the front end because most of the new hires on the front over the summer were 15-17 year old kids. They usually don't come in during the week before 3:30 and they can't ring up booze. I have to spend time I could be stocking to cover the front ends ass because they not only don't schedule enough help, they schedule the first two cashiers 2 1/2 hours apart. That's Key retailin at its best!
Key retailing is BS! I've been with Kroger for 21 years. This does not work. It doesn't do anything to help with customer satisfaction. They need to go back to the basics and be there for the customers. Elms is BS! Its a help tool for making the schedule but its no where perfect.
if you have 2 express lanes and are not using one of them, have someone put their number in the register that is not in use and then secure the terminal and as long as that number is in that register it is creating more hours for the front end.
