Should I have notified someone within the union within 24 hours or filled out some type of paper work since I was bit by a brown recluse spider after sticking my hand in a old box? I told my store manager and he thought I was joking and walked of because he was "busy with the other managers" The doctor says it will be 2 - 4 thousand dollars for treatment because there is a possibility I could lose my middle finger from the middle knuckle up since i waited to go to the doctor?

Now go to your Workmans Comp. Management has been notified. Make note the time,date or injury and when you went to the doctors office. And how amny days or hours you've lost.

Bare in mind that workmans comp only pays about 60% of your average pay and wont kick in for about 10 days after you go to the doctor.

VERY IMPORTANT:

Also make sure you get the doctors office thats on Krogers list of doctors in "their network" or you'll get stuck with the doctors bills. Get that list of Doctors that handle Kroger injuries or Kroger sticks you with the bills if you go outside that network.

If this accident occured while you were on the clock, shouldnt our company be paying the entire cost of treatment? If this happened to a customer we know it would.

Yes..If your injured on the clock then Kroger is responsible for all doctor bills.


ALWAYS REPORT ANY INJURY ON THE CLOCK IMMEDIATELY.. Right then...

1st thing workmans comp will want to know is why it wasn't reported then when it happened and to who you reported it to. Keep in mind they'll try to get out of paying you for lost work.

2nd is Definately make note of "who" in management you reported to.

3rd. Make sure you go to Krogers Doctors on the Workmans Comp list,they have the list in the office.Ususally 4-5 doctors in the area that handles the injuries for Kroger.

Go outside the list and you get the bill, they wont pay it.
