things you think but don't want to say at work...

This flight attendant making headlines for his remarks on an airline got me thinking...what would you say to someone or a group of people if you were pushed over the edge.  here's my thought:

when the zone manager or corporate worms come in the store, I so want to tell them they are "not welcome" in our store.  Ask them to "please leave"  or  ask "have you ever worked in a grocery store?"  "how did you get that job?....nevermind I know how..."

your turn, probably best to post as anonymoose.   If for some reason, there are consequences for these anonymous posts, then they've clearly lied to us.  There's something great about posting as anonymous,  yes, you are immune! do it! get it off your chest, it feels good

How about this...if the prices are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much cheaper at Meijer or Wal-Mart, then WHY are you still shopping here week after week? It just don't jibe...Of course, that's something I'd never say....

No, the bakery is NOT open all night long...I know you need a teeny tiny little cake for your son's birthday whose name happens to be VERY, VERY LONG, but we have to send our bakery girls home sometime...and we've decided that 9PM is that time...Sorry...They've worked all day...We just can't afford 24 hour bakery help...And, plus, they have to sleep...I realize this place is like a second home for some, but really, there's no room for a bunch of cots in here...

If I have to hear "Customer Service in the Seafood Department" ONE MORE TIME...I'm going to have to "strangle" that bum in the deli...

Why doesn't it get busy like this the day after Thanksgiving???

Of course, these are just rants and frustrations...I've had a long day, as have many of you, I'm sure...Personally, though, I do not say these things...It would be wrong, and I am not that way at all...On the other hand, though, it is highly possible to imagine in one's mind that someone somewhere must have thought these things at some time...I'm just sayin'...Anybody out there feel what I'm sayin'?

You guys, I'm sure, can think of many more than I can right now...

That last one would be my imaginary conversation with a truck driver...I would never say that, because I think our drivers are great, and it's NOT all their fault, but sometimes...confuse

Oh, here's one more...Why did she have me go all the way across the store to take a call on 101, and THERE IS NOBODY ON THE LINE ON 1-0-1??? Aaaaaagggghhhh!!!!

"If you're gonna yell at me for not taking a lunch, how about making it so there's more than one person in my department at a time so that I CAN take a lunch without getting tons of aggravating customer service calls?! Including ones from you, Mr. Manager, yourself who once made me get off a lunch early!"

#1  Do you know that those handi cap carts are not designed to carry a **** load of groceries and your 500# fat ass around all day? No wonder they do not run long.
#2  I can cut you the meat you want but Key retailing does not call for it so go to Wal-Mart
#3  That will get cut but first I have to inventory my case before this company will let me Cut meat.
#4   I am in the meat department .Does it look like I know where to find that item or if we ever carried it.
#5   ( when a customer insists they got something in your store) Do not carry it and have not had it for years so except it or get the hell out of the store because I am not lying to you and you need to look elsewhere.
#6 Nice? Where is it? Look here, ELMS does not give me the time to have to stop and piss around helping you find crap you need.
#7  To the manager on duty. If you think you can cut , wrap and display 10 cases of Pork Butts in 30 minutes then you get your ass back here and prove it.

And as soon as I win $100 milion in the lottery, I will tell every customer I see these things and more.

at our store a few of us have decided if we win the lottery we will buy out the other employees. You know there are a few that will quit their job for a couple thousand dollars, like "wheew i don't have to work" and they'd be all excited,  now others would take a bit more nudging and higher $$$ but wouldn't it be funny for everyone to quit on the same day,   maybe the day before Thanksgiving or Easter.  bwaaaahahahaha.  thing is, the store wouldn't function without US!  we are the reason the store is open

How about...I just put up a hundred cases of that Gatorade on a display...Now. tell me why you just HAD to go and buy 50 of 'em, as soon as I put 'em up??? Who drinks THAT much? Then again, thinking about it, I probably just answered my own question...

Feel free to substitute milk, water, soda pop, frozen dinners, juice, etc. for that Gatorade example...

Hey, guys, what do you think of this Steven Slater flight attendant guy? Anyone ever had a customer, co-worker, or manager push them to the breaking point, like in this case?

Of course, acting on it is an entirely different problem in itself...

Not that I would know anything about that, of course...

grumpy1,  hey do your rules (technically) require you to break down the saws and clean them if you were to cut pork then want to cut beef?   (not possible for time's sake)

to be technical about it , yes we are to break down and clean the saws or any area that we cut pork or chicken in the same area we process beef. Never seen it enforced in the years I been in the market. Have seen a few times where Proctor and Gamble came in for inspections and had us break down and clean  an area where there was chicken cut or pork on a customer request. Local Health department does not like it either. But it is still done. Would hate to see what management would do if in the middle of a heavy beef ad ( $3.77# T-Bones) we had to stop and cut up a pork lion ( or the ones that wants a chicken cut into small tiny pieces) and then clean the saw, sanitize it and wait for it to air-dry before continuing.

exactly.  one of the meat guys was contemplating contacting the health dept or P&G to let them in on this, because they'd screwed him on something.  Management really needs to watch who they piss off...

Got to remember that us meat people are not always the sharpest knife in the drawer and the meat department is generally the most arrogant department in the store too. There are always things that are done to serve a customer and in a case like this I defer it to management and let them decide to cut or not. Most times if it is boneless or cutting chicken with a knife, it is as simple as fliping a table top over to cut it and then back. As a manager , yes you do not ever want to intentionally piss of or screw with help , especailly the meat department, but at the same time you can not let them run rough shot over you. Most all stores have two saws and If they want to jack with the saw to cut pork and chicken, then pull out another blade and just have them change blades on the saw and use one saw exclusively for beef only.
