3 years working for this company has shown me one thing: Kroger people are retarded. I have been gainfully employed for 20 years before I came to Kroger, and it seems that Mental Retardation is unique to Kroger. From the top to the bottom, a bunch of drooling retards. Those mentally challenged folks who are baggers or cart-grabbers seem to have a bigger I.Q. than a lot of you retards.
I know what you are thinking - "Dead Barney, you work for Kroger so you must be retarded yourself!" You're right. I must be retarded to be working with such morons. By osmosis, I am slowly losing I.Q. points. I find myself drooling from time to time. However, I will never become dumb enough to believe that conditioning produce, cutting meat, stocking shelves, being a merchandiser, store manager or executive, here at Kroger, takes any brains whatsoever.
Just about every Kroger store has a mentally challenged person who either bags or grabs grocery carts from the parking lots. You can take one of those people and make him/her the store manager, and you would never know the difference.
Food sells itself. Duh!

i wont use the term 'retarded' but I will say that I agree that they will hire just about anybody and promote them while they're at it. It doesn't matter how smart you are it's all about whos ass you kiss! look at the people who come in the stores to do audits, half of them have never even worked at a grocery store, they're clueless. Essentially, they're hiring and promoting their own kind. Just because they have a way of doing something that is clearly outdated or a waste of time, doesn't make it wrong because it's the way they've been doing it for years and they aren't about to change now. this is a very low IQ job. they want you to think that there are smart people within the company but i bet the average IQ is around the 5th or 6th grade level
Wall Street and Investors would be floored if they knew how many GED and high School Grads we have in charge and even more concerned at the level of the current promotions over the BBA and MBA's who are left behind because they dont kiss the ass. I'd imagine theres someone standing out in front of GoodWill from Kroger passing out applications going "hey, I couldn't help but notice your retarded, ever thought about being part of the Kroger family?" we're always looking for people that can't think for themselves,make decisions and has no input and take up the ol'poopchute and are happy to clean toilets,chase buggies for minimum wage. All the while we draw subsidies from the government at the taxpayers expense.
i dont think a retard can do carts at my store we have a hardcore parking lot. very uneven, **** can and has happened. plus were 3 miles from a super walmart. our store is 1/5 the size and we always have more customers, no joke. walmart isnt as popular as kroger in my city.
I tend to agree that most management in kroger are just bodies set there to make sure that the status quo is met. However I do find all the negative comments, even light hearted in nature a bit disturbing.
Those mentally challenged people that are working at your store are doing, in most cases, what they think is right and are proud to be working there. I know quite a few who care more about their job and how they do it than the so called "normal" people.
While I hate to play that card, I wonder if any of you actually took the time to talk to some of your challenged co workers? My store doesn't have anyone like that however there are 5 stores within a 30 mile radius, and 2 others do. I've stopped and talked to a few mentally challenged kroger workers, just like I do the rest of the staff in other stores. You'd be amazed at the difference in viewpoint.
I really like my job vs yeah this place sucks.
All I'm saying is perhaps you should rethink before you start bashing handicapped and "retarded" people who are doing their job and probably not being as bitchy about you normal people walking around doing nothing as you are about them just having a job there.
The people that are "retarded" probably make better employees that 'normal' people. Generally they are just happy to have a job. If you think that your job is full of 'retarded' people, why don't you find another job? Or are you afraid that you can't ' function at another job because you are one of the 'retarded' ones. Either way don't hate "retarded" people. They can't help the way they are. And I thing you will find that the ones that are slow are the best employees.
yes,kroger is filled with mouth-breathers.in the deli of the store i work,there is a girl who has big hearing aids,an awful speech impediment,hunch-back,elephant-man face,wears her pants 4 inches too short,and wears a fanny-pack!!!!apparently she does have a boyfriend or husband-whatever,this ugly, beady-eyed child-molester looking roach...and the best part is-these two superstars have a baby!!!

LOL yea I dont remember this old thread. I just read it and I sort of agree (sadly) with the original poster. most Kroger employees are (i wont use it) idiots. then there are the small exception (like a lot of us who found this site) who have common sense and work here for whatever reason but understand the insanity of it all. know what i mean (wink wink)
