Race cards are a joke

How are race cards a reward? I work hard and all I get is a stupid card that doesn't necessarily guarantee a real prize? The race card system is so broken. It's just laughable. You get rewarded with a card that you enter in and then they have to draw your card out of a lottery and then you get points that you can use to get something worth 1,000,000 points. And the drawings are every month. What kind of retarded reward system is that? Just give me a raise or at the very least some kind of prize. Gift card, a damn squirt gun, anything but a God damn race card.

It sounds like something that your store is trying to do on a personal level. I've never heard of race cards. I've actually heard higher ups say that the only thing they owe us is a paycheck for the time we work.

Most of kroger management honestly believe that. They don't care that it's our blood and sweat that make that store run. they don't think that they owe us anything, much less a raise. Raises cut into profits and then they can't pay millions of dollars to other stores just in case the union goes on strike.

Kroger is like every other big corp, they only are looking out for the bottom line. Once you realize that and realize that things could be worse and just ride it out as long as you can take it, you'll be fine.

Just realize kroger is what it is. A paycheck

it's a southwest division thing. Management hands them out for engagement and what not. They stand for Recognizing Associate Customer Engagement. Each period there is a drawing between all division and points are awarded to select people who have entered in cards. There are quarterly drawings for bigger point bonuses.

Points are then redeemed for tangible merchandise through the RACE website. You can win a four night trip to Hawaii with airfield and hotel and little tiny things like jump drives, earphones etc. When it first started you had to have 20,000 points to get anything, but as time went on they have added gifts for lower point values. Points are non transferable.

Division leaders, district managers, even the VP Rodney has RACE cards to hand out. When you are given one of their cards you get ten entries into the period drawing AND receive from them. Each letter is personally crafted by the person who gave you the card. They aren't crafted just for you, but for the recipients who received their card.

The letter also comes with a little pin perfect for you name badge. The more cards you get from upper management the more pins. People with excellent customer service skills usually get the most cards. However, you gotta be at the right place at the right time. If your working nights you won't get noticed.

I have collected eight pins. I am proud to say I have recognized for my excellent customer skills by the Vice President of Kroger Rodney McMullen. It's memorable, tangible and it makes feel a little bit special. I might not be full time after years of employment, I might not make the money I want to, but I know I'm appreciated by someone who is making decisions that affect my daily work life.

While i understand howe you feel; and infact have my moments of pride as well. I have to agree with the others. Particularly under particular management- but honestly my biggest complailnt is how difficult they make it to get into the website (at home) to input your points at all. It's ridiculous how hard it is to even find the link! i would know, i'm still searching. Dozens of those little black cards and absolutely nothing to do with them. Lets hear it for SouthWest. Blehhhh

go to www.myemployeeinfo.com/sowest to access the r.a.c.e program.  Every 2000 points is good for a $5 kroger gift card.  At my store the gift cards are tied to your kroger card so when I buy something then swipe my kroger emloyee discount card at the self check out register it will ask me if i'd like to apply my r.a.c.e card giftcard credit to the balance owed.  You can also get Itunes/starbucks giftcards for 4000 points!
