I work in ky just wondering if you voluntarily drop your status to part time when you do go full time are you at the same spot in the schedule as you were previously or are you at the bottom?

i'd assume you would go to where you would be if you'd have been part time all along. (which is based on how long you've worked there)

No no, this person was full time until basically she decided that she needed to drop her status because she needed to babysit her grandchildren and could not work certain dayts/hours. So our manager made her voluntarily sign away her status to become part time. So now her daughter doesn't need her to babysit, so she's going to what? Get her status and place back? Or get her status back eventually and go to the bottom of the full time people? I thought the union book said if you voluntarily gave up your status, you had to wait 6 months to get it back and then you'd be at the bottom of all the full time people?

oh, i see. yeah it would make sense that if placed back onto full time she would go back to the bottom of the full time list. I'm not sure about the whole signing away your rights or waiting or anything like that. I would assume, if you're willing, if you and your store agree on it you can move between full and part time as often as you want as long as you're willing to be placed back on the bottom of the full time list each time you accept the position.

She would, of course, have to wait for a position to become available, though.

to answer your question.... Logic would dictate that she be placed at the bottom of the full time list and not at her previously higher spot. Ask your union rep for more detailed information if you have a problem.

My union rep tells me what you just said, but they have been telling her that she will be back to the top of the full time people >.> Guess they'll tell you anything to shut you up.

once u give up ur full time, u lose it. she has to wait for an opening n reapply for a new bid. she will still be considered full time until she averages under 36 hrs. she will be at the bottom of the list for the full timers.

if she wins a bid again 4 full time, that doesnt necessarily puts her at the bottom of the full time list. u count all the days and/or years she held the full time position(s). if she reapplies and wins a full time bid and previously had 5 years of full time and there r full timers with less full time seniority. then she will be placed above the that person(s).
