Now what ur experiencing is the dreadful implementation of the 30% full time rule. It's only going to get worse from here on out. Regardless of what ur store mgmt, district mgmt., or general office try to convince you of this fulltime reduction plan is their major objective. The harsh reality is that if they made you upset enough to quit then they would be one step closer to that goal. The weak union can try to fight this but Kroger is well armed and prepared to ramrod this plan through. One thing I can guarantee you is that if you quit today then within two weeks they will have you replaced and the only time u'll be remembered is when the mgmt. uses you as an example of what happens to non-compliant yet conscientous employees.

can some one give me empirical proof to this?  i believe it b/c we are short staffed; things are not getting done; people been called to office and written up leading to pissed off employees ready to quit.

for me - i just chug along & if things get out of control around me i just let it happen.

ur always gonna be short staffed from here on out- think about it- if 70% of ur workers are mandated as part-time- then 7 out of ten employees will be casual, transient, bored or broke retirees, school kids, housewives needing a few extra dollars, etc. They are all people who have much higher priorities than their meager entry level jobs- they may or may not be motivated to perform up to Elms standard- and not a whole lot a dept head or mgmt can do since even bigger priorities for them is to find people that show up and don't steal. Lord help the dept heads and backups- they will be the ones that feel the stress and receive the butt chewins when conditions are not met on a daily basis. Store mgmt will be seen carrying the want ads part of the paper or searching Monster.com for a way out of this pressure cooker.
