I have heard that they are going to be more stages of Key Retailing before it is complete. If memory serves me correct and the information I was given was factual, it stops at 15 I believe. I can't imagine how much worse it can get.
On another note it is also my understanding that when Key Retailing is complete, Dept. heads will be doing less hands on work and more paperwork and ordering etc. Which means more work for us clerks!
master plan is to ramrod key retailing completely thru all divisions asap.. if u think it's counterproductive and wastes ur time with a lot of paperwork and unnecessary procedures then u need to be weeded out. As they strive for 70% part-time employees the main goal of key retailing is to dumb the jobs down so any slackjaw greenhorn right off the street can come in and follow procedures set out by key retailing and get the job done without any forethought or real training. Not to burst ur bubble but what we do is not exactly rocket science! Even though a well trained, long term, experienced clerk/dept. head can make a huge difference in that depts, sales and conditions that also cost the company a lot more in pensions, insurance, vacations, etc. so from the Ivory Tower on Vine Ave. Cinci Key Retailing was created . U'll need to put ur brain in cold storage or just leave it at home everyday and just come in and totally comply to survive. Or if ur not totally past the point of return then head for greener pastures- NOT RETAIL- and work on gettin a real career for urself.
I think corporate is a tad too strict about Key Retailing. It gets kind of ridiculous when you have a label for where the trash can is supposed to be placed in the produce prep room. Our new carts also have to have water bottles, paper towels, the "master list", plastic bags, twist ties, vinyl gloves, red tape for marked down bananas, and a duster. Now, aren't we prepared for just about anything with Key Retailing?!
yea i'm with you on the ridiculous factor concerning Key Retailing. I kinda see through all the crap pushed down on us the initial intent. but damn it sure gets churned up and garbled out during the planning stage. too much ingredience pumped into the stew then out come a disgusting tasting dish that originally coulda be kinda yummy if prepared better. does that make sense?

I am no longer part of the oppressed, evil workforce of Kroger! Can you say "Hallelujah"
Im a Asst head produce in columbus division and we have been on wave 5 5a and now we are on 5b and everything is starting to make since. My store went from having 200 out of stocks total to 65 without using more hours. And wave 5b produce allocation is the best so far you really see what you go through everyday you put less of what you dont sell and more of what you sell not to mention sells will and OSAT scores will increase because of it
The thing that sucks with Key Retailing in the produce department is that we have to be re-trained on everything. Taking out our cardboard cart is part of the ****ing training. Kroger only knows the very best!
this is the worst ever. Where is your shopping list? Let us all start at the front of the store, make all the same list and hold hands and skip to the back, make the same list and fill the same things, while the produce department looks like hell!!!
Key retailing isnt saving the company any money. The company cutting our hours every week and expecting more work to be sone than before. Key retailing is supposed to make the job easier but it does the exact opposite. Its just a bunch of people who have never worked in a department coming up with stupid ideas that do nothing but make our jobs harder. 99% of the people i have talked to who are not a part of key retailing or store management hate it and say it is worthless. Why wont the company listen to us? Obviously because they dont care about anything except puting money in their pockets. 70% part time is all of the proof i need to back up my argument. Get rid of the people who know the customers and have built friendships with customers over the years for a bunch of kids who dont care. I work with some people who worked for winn dixie who some of you might know went bankrupt not too long ago. They said this is exactly the kind of thing they were doing before they went under...... i cant wait for this to blowbup in their face.
How can the company that contributes the most to charity and gives back to their community be greedy... Someone needs to get their facts straight and a chip off their shoulder. Buck up! It's work and you might have to do a little.
Lol they get it all back in tax cuts. Dont get me wrong i love what i do..... or atleast i used to. I used to look forward to going in to work. I loved my job. Now i dread it. The only thing i look forward to are my days off. Key retaling is making kroger a terrible place to work.
Wow our store is only on 5...everyone will be dead by the time it gets to 15! It's a bunch of bull**** as far as I am concerned. Nothing but a waste of time. They care more about the paperwork than the customer. I heard Wal Mart had it first and couldn't get it implemented. After a few years of trying they sold it to Kroger.

actually if you can get it working right in your department with the right people its a lot less work and more free time to help customers. But you need a good team and gotta keep all the numbers right
