Two week notice.. (Lot of these threads recently)

I have been a conditioner for the last nine months. They toss one person to condition in the mornings, the entire large store, which happens to be the district store.

I can manage it to an extent if I almost kill myself, however it's not 100% perfection, but it's good enough for them to not fuss overly about it.

There's another employee that slacks (the only other conditioner) which makes it that much harder to condition the store the next day. They won't do anything about it.

The issues come when they know I have health issues, and I told them about it when I was hired. I can't do five days a week, and they keep tossing that one me. Five, five hour days.

That's pretty much full timer days, part timer hours.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to put my two week notice in. They just don't listen and I've tried long enough to get them to understand. It's not worth my health to keep this minimum wage job with no benefits and no opportunities for advancement.

Any suggestions on the best way to approach giving them the two weeks notice?

yea sure...

write on a piece of paper in crayon color of your choice " this letter is to serve notice of my two weeks effective may 4th" sign you name and hand it to the manager.  Walk away and start conditioning everything upside-down

now don't u think ur suggestion is rather rude and unprofessional?

just put urself in ur mgr's shoes he's just like the lil Dutch boy trying to keep the village from flooding by puttin his fingers in the dike- he's almost out of fingers to plug leaks with and here comes some nimrod with a smartalec note saying they gonna quit because their part time, low cerebral,  light duty conditioning job cause  it's too much mentally and physically for them

is there no love for the poor  store mgmt?

They get paid much more than normal employees. I wouldn't shead a tear over their troubles.

OP: Just slack off and when they confront you about it.... just shrug and continue working normally/slowly. Don't kill yourself for them.

My pride wouldn't let me do that. I always try to do my best no matter the situation. I have other health issues that prevent me from working five days a week... I applied for a part time position not a job with part time hours and full time days.. AKA: Five hour days, five days a week...
Le sigh.

It's definitely not light duty when you have to do as much as we have to, the entire store which is the highest performing in the district, the entires tore, perfectly. I have to constantly be running non-stop, working ten thousand miles an hour.

I wouldn't diss it unless you've actually tried it yourself in a similar store, with a similar amount of time, with the exact same expectations put upon you.

That's why I don't belittle other people's positions. It may seem that they aren't doing a lot, but you never know until you're actually in their shoes.

You're doing it wrong. Do your best but do it slower. Make sure you do your best with what you do but don't kill yourself over it. You're union, son.

I keep getting 40 hours shoved on me when I dont want it.
Its really my fault though for working so hard and making myself indispensable.
I can kind of understand your situation seeing how Im being forced to work 40 and I break down a truck or two a night by myself plus stock/condition an aisle.
