u can expect about 15 mins worth of info streched into 8 hrs. u'll be the class hero if u bring a bottle of NO-Doze so the snoring won't disrupt the glorified sack boy that is on special assignment for this waveof key retailing.

About what I expected :( Wis I could get out of this meeting. The thing is they want us to focus on produce freshness, but part of 5A is marking down bruised Apples, oranges, ETC. This makes us look like a crap store, not superior to Meijer, WalMart, and the rest.

I like the concepts of key retailing BUT we just don't have the manpower to really make it work. I mean I wish we did but we just don't we are a smaller store 700 thousand per week with the fuel center sales. I see every department taking shortcuts just to pass inspection and hiding the fact that they can't do it. Managers working off the clock the clean up their departments, its just sad.

The other side of the coin is when the Meijer and Wal-Mart workers come shopping at Kroger, because OUR produce is fresher...Imagine that! I've actually heard comments like this...

Of course, I can't speak for every store...

In my town anyway, you're absolutely right. I'll only buy my produce at Kroger.

We have already started Wave 5A here, its not all that bad. The only problem is the SME over produce for our District has never ran or worked in a produce department, so he doesn't relay information to well, nor does he show us what he wants done.

I seem to remember, when this all started 6-7 years ago, that this was supposed to be done in two years? Why the hell has it taken this long?

drone, surely u know the answer to ur own question! as with any G.O. project their announced deadlines are just guestimates by pencil pushers that have no common sense or actual work experience in the project field that they are assigned to. someone on another post wanted to know what the easiest job in the store was which is always debateable but the easiest, lamest, and most non- productive., unstressful jobs are the project administrators.

it's not uncommon for an all "important" projects to be heavily manned by high paid engineering, accounting, computer nerd types for months to years all to be abandoned or completely disemboweled by some lunatic VP that suddenly dreams up another attention getting, ego-boosting unrealistic project. one i talked to that also wished to remain anonymous lest she be booted off the G.O. gravy train life, said that most if not all  G.O.project implementers like herself decided long time ago to just bite their tongue when massive amounts of work and manpower hours are jettisoned and a brand spanking new executive brainstorm is put on the front burner. If i was them i'd just do the same and laff all the way to the bank!
