At $30,000 / yr wage - it would take me 300 years to earn what Uncle Dave earns in 1 year.

Kroger, like many supermarkets chains, has struggled to keep prices low for customers in recent years because rising commodity costs are forcing it to pay more to stock its shelves. Kroger has managed the balancing act by controlling its operating and administrative costs. It has also intensified its focus on marketing its store brands, which help keep costs in check.

Administrative costs. 66% raise. LOLWUT?

no surprise there a few million his way and he looks the other way acting like a caring humanitarian while the braintrust are tightening the screws!Just imagine how poorly the stores will be staffed by min wage drones in ten years.

here's what u need to do - get a plan to get out and better urself before u end up part time and without any true benefits- let em suffer with the monster they created. IF U ARE CAPABLE OF MORE AND MOST OF US ARE THEN GET OUT OF THAT RUT AKA COMFORT ZONE - TAKE THE LEAP AND START OVER WITH A CAREER WHERE U CAN NOT ONLY HAVE A FUTURE BUT ALSO ONE WHERE YOU HAVE AN ACTUAL SKILL (RETAIL IS NOT A SKILL ITS A DEADEND- I BET THEY COULD TRAIN A CHIMP TO STOCK SHELVES) . You may have to take a hit while u start over but at least u'll still be employable and wanted when u turn 50. Think about it!

That article made me so mad when I saw it... right next to all the notices about how Kroger is unable to settle our contract.

A 66% raise for any C.E.O. is absurd.

Yeah, it's pretty funny.

Around here, minimum wage generally increases faster than we get raises.

Right, and Corporate America fights these measures at every turn. It's a machine that has been running out of control for WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too long.

just like Red Green says... I'm pullin for ya.. we're all in this together! good luck ....change is good for anyone who works the stores at Krogerland. on ur next career pick a field where there's a need now and will be for the future.... don't make the same mistake by picking just a company... they can come and go or turn into ruthless greed mongers like ol Barney has....

oh in case y'all didn't know just like when some vip from G.O. is coming to ur division all the stops are pulled out and a massive snow job is put in place to assure that he/she is falsely impressed and then totally pampered so he can fly back to Cinci with that warm, fuzzy feeling- the store that Mr and Mrs Dillon shop at is completely overstaffed with the most qualified workers and hours are abundant to maintain a complete aura of wonderfulness for their shopping experience. even the surrounding stores are babydolled just in case they were to randomly stop in there on the way home from the private  country club or dayspa.

now here's the problem since those stores are burning up the hours then the inner city or outlying country stores are reduced in  their hours to compensate.

Still though r u trying to tell me that the multi-millionaire ceo and his wife really lower themselves to the level of the common man and shop at the store all by themselves on a regular basis? I understand what good press and employee relations this would make but really are they coming in and actually completely shopping for their entire needs? Surely not- maybe it's only when the maid, the butler, or the chauffer are off and they need some hor'deuvres for an impromptu happy hour with some of the other ceo's. I mean we're talking about getting their own bascart, picking their own bananas, picking up cans off the shelves, picking out their private selection T-bones from that black meat cutter named Angus, and then actually going thru a checkout and using their plus card? I know their cart would be unloaded at checkout by couple co-managers and bagged by manager and then prolly even a carryout by district manager, but still we're talking about a guy whose bonus this year is more than u'll make ur entire life-if it really does happen then i think it's all just for p.r. purposes- I bet they don't even go up and down the aisles- prolly just breeze thru the perimeter quickly and don't dare stop lest one of the store mgmt accidentally ram's his/her head into their buttocks!

The store that I work at is near a community called Indian Hills.  Here is a little info about this area....

The Village of Indian Hill is a city in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States, and an affluent suburb of the Greater Cincinnati area.  It has previously been named the "Best Place to Raise a Family" by the magazine Robb Report.[3] The racial makeup of the city was 94.41% White.  The median income for a household in the city was $158,742, and the median income for a family was $179,356.

Notable residents
