Requesting Time Off
Permalink

Does Kroger use seniority when deciding who gets the day they requested off? For example I'm requesting a holiday off, but I see that several other cashiers have requested the same day off. I have been their longer than they have been. Does seniority matter?

my contract says

within the efficient operation of the business and with the recognition that weekend schedules and second shift schedules (after 9:00 p.m.) will be rotated among employees in each department and classification, the employer will recognize the seniority of employees within each department and classification, in cases of conflict, for preferred shifts and preferred days off.

also full time employees take precedence over part time no matter who's been there longer

It should go by who requested off. And also for the reason it may work what looks most urgent.

Talk to whoever is in charge of your schedule, ask a week in advance for a request day off so they can schedule someone new in for you.

When i request off it has nothing to do with senority. As long as i do it in a timeline that in inconvienient it's not a problem. Regardless of how long i've been there, from new hire to veteran.

Not sure how it works for other departments but for night crew and grocery that's how we roll.

I meant it should go by who request off first.

Not sure if your post was in jest, or if you are totally serious? In any case this is definitely NOT the place to post anything like that. This website / discussion forum has no direct connection with the Kroger company and it's supervisors, programs, online schedules, etc.

You need to sign in to greatpeople.me and go to your "My E-schedule" and input your schedule change / days off requests there.  Your requests for those days off may or may not be approved by your dept head (for various reasons---- seniority, availability, staff shortages, nearby holidays, etc), but since you are asking over 2 months ahead, that is definitely a "plus"........a lot better than waiting until the last minute!  Good luck!
