I'm just curious, whats the policy regarding having a criminal record at Kroger?

Because I heard there were some people who were going to be hired at my store then got let go because they failed the background check.

Then I've heard of other people who have a record and they work there no problem. Is there a policy or what?

If you are a felon or a convict Kroger won't hire. Little small things won't happen.

That can't be policy for all divisions. I know it can't be in Dayton/Cincy. :S

Generally speaking, if you have a felony on your record at the time of the background check, they will just never call you back. However, I have seen people who have not finished with the courts for a criminal charge yet. Since nothing appears on your record until you are actually convicted, you can get a job in the meantime.

Oh please that whole background check is a joke bottom line is if theu can use you they will hire you more than likely if you have a record its your store manager you have to worry about they tend to watch you amd judge you.

Yeah I mean I don't want to name names but I know a store where someone who is a convicted felon is working there.

Not like I want them fired or anything. I was just wondering how that could have happened when they always talk about background checks.

What were they convicted of? That usually makes a difference. Convicted felons need jobs too, and it's a lot better than doing whatever it was that landed them in the clink in the first place!

Oh I agree, and this person is awesome at their job! I'm glad the company gave them a chance, I was just surprised. but hey, I'm all for second chances.

I'm not sure what all the charges were. Some drug charges I think.

If some one had lied on there application and found out later to have had a felony can they be dismissed even though it was 10-15 years ago?

Maybe criminal records should be mandatory.  Experienced associates might have a better chance at standing up to some of the thuggish managers.
