Fire the union? lololol tough luck. They won't be going away as long as they old, skeletal hardliners are still around clinging to their mesozoic era contracts.

You may be wondering why can't the younger generation do anything about it. Most definitely because the younger people know that there's "better" opportunities out there and do not stay long with the company.

Remember. Kroger negotiates on the interest of it's profits and shareholders.

The union negotiates on behalf of their executives and office. Also, can any of you guarantee that the union representatives would not get a form of bonus or another (whether directly or through a third party) for making sure that they convince members to ratify a contract that's literally scraping the bottom of the barrel?

The dues-paying union members will get the bottom shiit-end of it.

Man, am I glad that I don't have to give part of my paycheck to those greedy pricks.

Amen. If my state forced me to join the union to work at Kroger I wouldn't take anything less than $9. Otherwise you might not even be making minimum wage.

I know I'm voting No..I prefer to Strike then to get paid pennies on the dollar of Pay and Benefits.
Kroger share Price is like $45.00 a share and they saying they cannot pay a living wage for the most in need. Some of the people I work with are on Food Stamps thats just not right. Why should people willing to work be paid chicken feed and stay off of public support they are only asking for a living wage and not be on the on the payer bankroll.

there's a rumor around my store that the new contract takes health care from part time employees.  this is NOT true.

union claims in the cover letter was spousal care had to go or they'd eliminate healthcare for anyone under 30 hours which would be anybody not already full time, let's keep it real we know how the system is designed and dept heads are dinged if they don't keep their part time people under 30 hours even if that means all their elms hours don't get used.  it's BS but it's what Kroger wants.

I'm disappointed wages don't move at any level except the top.  Really, Kroger?  Except for top of the pay scale, wages will have been static for years and years while employee's costs for healthcare and union dues have risen as have corporate profits.

The union can only negotiate with leverage. If you're willing to fight for something more, then put actions to your words. If not, just know that idle bitching will get you nowhere.

All I know is I make $7.25 an hour and I was told when I joined the union that it would be $7.30 dues for me.

I have no desire to strike.  I'll vote for the crap contract.  The union hasn't done anything for me except give away premiums, take my money and protect people who have no business coming back after outright theft and scam running.

And this is WHY they don't do anything for you, because you "vote for crap contracts". -_-
