"Paper or plastic?"

Don't smash the bread or break the eggs.

Never ever touch a customers' purse.

Courtesy clerks bag groceries and do carry outs if requested.  Fix the bottle return machines.  Clean bathrooms.  Clean up in aisle 10.  Bring carts back inside store from the lot.  Sweep the store.  Do go backs.  Possible price check in aisle 2.

It shouldn't be too bad.  Someone should show you the ropes the first day.  You can wing it from there.  Sunday is normally the busiest day.

Good luck.

It's the easiest job in a store, really. Bag groceries, get carts, clean the bathroom(s), sweep the store, mop spills, etc. There aren't any objectives to work towards or targets to meet other than "floor isn't covered with water" and "there are carts".

You won't really be treated like a person by most of your coworkers until you move to another position because courtesy clerks have extremely high turnover (only job available to high schoolers at Kroger = lots of idiots).

I take out my soul crushing depression on the carts. It's really fun to do when the goddamn things won't push together right the way you need or want them to either in the store or out in the lot to move them, so a nice hard shove that can be seen by customers and management as necessary always feels good.

That and I don't mind crushing the occasional grape.

It would help, though, if my direct supervisor wasn't such a hard-lined bitch.
