So last week the server was offline when I tried to clock in, the other girl clocking in said to just sign the time sheet, I did that when I clocked in and clocked out, today the same thing but one of the supervisors (not mine) told me that you can't do that that it actually clocked you in even if it's offline. I was like "what? But I did it last week and was told it's what I needed to do" they said this happened a few weeks ago and the people that did it didn't get paid those hours until the next weeks paycheck, sounds like complete BS, I would think if they were going to punch in the time and saw I had clocked in they would just make sure the times matched and went on their way.
The lady that hired me (I'm assuming she's HR since she's the lady that made me sign papers until my hand was numb) wasn't there and won't be until tomorrow so I can't even call to check and she might not be able to check anyway, so I might have to wait until I pick up my paycheck to find out if it's correct or not, and since it happened today too I get to verify that today's is correct as well.
I would think they would inform the new people (which I am new btw, hasn't even been a month yet) about this problem but they didn't, it totally sucks but they better not try to claim I didn't work when I obviously did >:( mostly I'm just angry, I know they legally can't keep my money when I did infact work and I would be on camera as well as other employees we're working in my department and saw me. It just feels like another wonderful day of being a kroger employee.
See that wouldn't help at least not according to the supervisors today, they told me it would actually prevent my time from being correct, that's part of the frustration the supervisors today just didn't make any sense and just made me angry. I think the week they had a problem was actually the week the one lady was out of town so I think it was a human error, I think it was somebody that didn't know what they were doing. All I can do is wait and hope it's not messed up I guess, just got very frustrated this morning and since they were supervisors I couldn't actually say anything to them all I could do was make a long and angry rant on here.
Back when the timeclocks were out all over, we were told to always punch the timeclock because it stores your punches. We were also told to write down our punches in case there was a discrepency.
That makes sense, but according to the supervisors at my store that would prevent you from getting paid, I think they don't have a clue what they're saying, that's part of the reason I got frustrated, that mixed with thinking I won't get all the money I worked for was just a bad storm.

I think you're right, your supervisors are crazy. Writing your punches in on the log shouldn't create a problem. Also, yes you should almost always be punching the clock, even when it says it's offline. That doesn't mean it's broken, it just means it temporarily lost the connection to the server, but it's storing punches and will upload them to the server when it can.

Agreed and it even states that the punch was saved after you punch. I have never had a server offline punch lost.
But, it takes an extra 15 seconds for the clock to find my fingerprint.
After several years of service and several deficient time clock........it is wize to write down what you worked on the daily time sheet that is usually close to the office and the time clocks.....and keep a copy of your schedule and at the end of your work week inquire the time clock to see what is says......if its wrong ......leave a note for the front end supervisor about the discrepancy before they post the hours in the computer on sunday.......keep good personal records and your pay will always be correct......barr human error in putting it in the system for your payday.
