I hate supervising.

I'm currently a supervisor working 25-30 hours a week.

I'm really fed up with supervising. I just want to be a bagger.

Should I try to move to a different department, or ask nicely to just be a bagger?

Try asking nicely, but if they won't let you just be a bagger, they won't let you transfer depts.

Why be a bagger? You have to put up with everyones' ****? That why I got promoted. Maybe try stepping down to a different dept?

You can at least make tips as a bagger (in my division), which means despite courtesy clerks not being eligible for any sort of raise, period, it's still possible for a courtesy clerk to make more money than a floor supervisor since floor supervisors don't get paid any extra money (again, in my division). Of course, this all depends on how generous the customers are at a particular store. When I was a courtesy clerk, more than once, I'd be tipped with $20.00. Be nice to customers, give them great service and some of them will be really nice back.

If, too, you work on a front end where the majority of people are cool and have management that respects you, then being a courtesy clerk isn't about putting up with everyone else's laziness and demands. There isn't a "slave mentality" where courtesy clerks are treated as everyone else's servants. Again though, this all depends on the store and the people working there.

I hated supervising, too, Ghostbuster. My opinion is if you hate what you're doing, it's important to find something else that will make your days at work more enjoyable. That's what I did. I stopped supervising and even though I did, I still find myself doing it when the front end is screwed or extra help is needed, but I won't ever regularly do it and I'll never agree to be the back-up to the CSM as I've been asked in the past and continue to be occasionally. It's not for me. If supervising isn't for you, then explore what is and go after it!

Supervising is THE worst position in the store.

Amen.  I've been asked about being backup and I just don't want it.  It's like being supervisor but the extra BS of scheduling and other stuff and a token 50 cent raise.  I won't even be making $8 / hr in my division.  That's some bullsh*t.

That's really nice to be making $25/h as a backup.

I have a hard time believing this. The only hourly person in my store making over $20 an hour is the grocery manager. And he's been with Kroger a while.

Can I ask you a question?
WHAT SPELL did Gandalf cast to make that happen?
Or are we talking the Harry Potter universe here?
Just wondering because that is one powerful-ass spell to make THAT pay rate happen.
Only a high-level wizard could have done it.

I could see the $25/ hour payrate happenning in California.

The only other explanation I would believe is that is what they are paid when working overtime.  Most of my deparment managers top out at $18.  So OT would be $25.

I make $22 when working OT.  I am even a part timer.
