Uber-sensitive FES

TODAY I had a fun experience.

It went like this:
1. I see cashier has no bagger.
2. I go to assist cashier as a bagger.
3. Customer wants to use the 3 for $10 deal on Coca-Cola products. Trouble is, she wants a Dr. Pepper.
4. Cashier asks me to go bring a Dr. Pepper (these are the 12-packs). I do.
5. Pause. Cashier needs me to go check on the price. It's not ringing up as the $10 deal. I do.
6. Okay, no Dr. Pepper. Fine. We will go with Sprite. So I suggest one from the lobby display of Mt. Twelve Pack, since she says she can see the deals from the register. Fine.
7. But the sprites are stacked up so that the remaining ones are in the back and I have to literally climb over other twelve-packs and the display.
8. I bring both a Sprite 12-pack and, for good measure, the sign stating the $10 deal.
9. Customer decides she doesn't want the deal.

The fun part was somewhere around #5 and #6 the FES comes walking up to me and I hear what I think is her asking me if I am ready for a break.
It's around 4:30 p.m, I just came off of the parking lot duty, I'm on the shift from 2- 8:45 p.m.  (what the hell is with these ridiculous shift times?)
As FES walks up and starts talking, I am literally in the middle of a conversation between customer and cashier in an attempt to determine specific requirements.
I have, after all, just made two (unnecessary?) trips from the register to the aisle nearby.
So, out of reflex, I hold up my right hand and say "Just a minute" or "Wait a minute" or "Hang on" or something like that. I really don't remember the wording.
FES walks off. I finally check with her about three or four minutes later after I have replaced the Sprite *and* the sign. She says "Never mind."

I don't end up getting my break until 8 p.m. (after coming off parking lot AGAIN from 7-8) because of that. And then I approached and asked.
She says "I treat you guys with respect but if you want to be a smartass..."
I attempt to tell her that I was not trying to be rude at the time but I was in the middle dealing with a customer and the cashier.
That I had to take that precedent first.
I try to tell her that I was not trying to be rude.
She still takes it personally.

*sighs*
Seven months of s-h-i-t like this so far.
I don't know if I can make it to nine.
I feel like I just need to take the theoretical trip to Mexico and have a Kroger abortion.

What else was I SUPPOSED to do, after all?
FES really did interrupt me, and god damn it, don't they drill into us the customer coming first?
I mean, look at the post I made a week or two ago when I tried *three times* to take a stupid carton of EGGS back and got in trouble with the FES (different one) that day because customers were having to bag their own groceries?

Holy hell I can't do this much longer.
If I don't quit I will end up just falling over dead in the parking lot as my heart gives out attempting to push carts or I am just going to faint at the register.
Or maybe my bladder will burst causing sepsis and internal bleeding because I couldn't get away from bagging. Every damn time I finish with one customer there are three more behind them.

Oh well.
But I know I was right.
This particular FES was just so sensitive I expect her to one day bleed to death after someone says "Hello" to her.
God damn it.

You should have said Yes in a minute instead of whatever you said. You are the lowest of the low at kroger. Dont forget that. Just ****ing quit if you still dont realize that.

Even if OP is "lowest of low," he/she STILL deserves respect, EVEN if OP is "just a bagger." With me, when I was a bagger, if you were rude to me bagging, guess what? You bagged the customer's groceries all by yourself.

Your "rank" and "position" in a company mean nothing if you've got a dozen employees targeting your back because of your obnoxious attitude. Remember that, and know your place, Anon.

OP, I know how "busy" it could get. Though, next time, just ask let them know "in a minute", or better yet, direct the customer to the FES. ;)

The lesson to be learned here is - if a manager of some variety asks if you want a break, you say, YES!

bagging isnt rocket science. All the floor sups at my store either helps bag or gets on register. So it isnt exactly punishment. They get paid the same amount except they have to deal with more bs. I dont find that floor sup rude because I know what they deal with. If someone put their hand up in my face and said wait when im trying to do my job id say **** em. But why didn't op go back and see what the floor sup wanted instead of waiting and waiting?

Ps im a bagger too.

Did you even read what I wrote?
i *did* go back to her about four minutes later, after all that stupid crap with the drinks was over.
In fact when I returned to the register the customer had already left and the next one was paying.
So I went to the FES and asked and was told to 'never mind'.
It was a reflex to put up my hand to her. I wasn't trying to be rude.
Try reading next time.
