I have worked for Kroger at Dillons for six years, never been written up for anything. I transferred to another store last year and recently I got trained as an FES. Sometimes when we get really busy I open a register and call management to help watch the front. The other FES's do this too and it doesn't seem to be a problem. But a couple of days ago my assistant manager calls me aside and asks me why I didn't wait until management came up before I opened a register. Of course I tell him that I was thinking of the customers and I was trying to open more lanes. He continues to tell me how I didn't do my job right and said that he was putting the instance in my file. This has happened several times, meanwhile the other FES's who do this are getting away with it. I feel like he is trying to single me out. I've been told to talk to the store manager or HR about it, but I feel if I do, it will just get waved off and nothing will be done.
I'm tired of getting singled out and written up for something like this. Is there a number I can call or an email address I can send something to? Any advice would be great.
Go to the union. At least from memory, this is proper behavior in the video training done in the FES class. You call for relief and you get on a register until relief arrives in order to open more lanes. Doing a note to file for following Kroger best practices is BS.
