Going in to work in an hour and OH DEAR GOD NO
Permalink

From Facebook for our local Kroger where I work :

I get daily emails from KROGER about specials, and today is MEGA Event Sale day there. 38 cents for Green Giant and Del Monte Veggies, with card. I was able to get 40 cans of creamed corn, whole corn, green beans and tomatoes, all for 38 cents a can. 40 cans was $16.68 with tax!

....Guess I can be ready to have no carts in the storage area in our main lobby and be ready to bag 50 an hour.
Wonder if I will be able to get a break, I work 4-9.

It's only going to get worse from here on out... all the way up to Thanksgiving, and then, a brief breather, before everyone gears up for the Christmas season. If you've never worked a November or December at Kroger, all I can say is, get the pain killers ready and have the psychiatrist of your choosing on speed dial... anything you've experienced so far is NOTHING compared to Thanksgiving/Christmas in retail, which sometimes overlaps with winter weather which freaks out 90% of the population to the point where they believe the next ice age is upon them.

That's one hell of a deal. Once a year kroger brand veggies go on for 3/1.00$ and we literally go through pallets of them a day.

Yeah, literally everything is on sale in frozen. Our mega event is lasting 2 weeks as well. Then the warehouse scratches a lot of the big movers, so it's like what's the point of the sale again? lol Stores are running insane OOS right now. The one down the road almost hit 500 yesterday.

Bunch of sales going on now. Nearly Thanksgiving.

Hard to keep up on the carts alone! By the time I'm done pulling in some, go back out and come back in, they're near gone! Busy, busy, busy.

Wasn't too bad today but our cans were flying off the shelves.
About every other customer had some on their purchases.
One order came through just carrying the little box with the cans still sitting on it. Twice.

500 controllable OOS? As in, the shelf is empty but the gun says BOH is positive? If that's the case, then something is seriously wrong with that store.

Not necessarily that the BOH is positive.   All holes except for warehouse scratches on the last order.   Hence, the controllable part.   Can't help it when the warehouse is out of something.   Unfortunately mispicks & shorts count towards controllables, even though they aren't....controllable lol.   The warehouse shorted me an entire pallet last week, so I sent in a claim worth about 1200$, and I had 6 holes just because of that, even though I couldn't help it.

That store has been a mess for a while now.   It does quite a bit of volume for the size of store that it is.   It only has 31,000 square feet of sales area, but does about 750k in volume w/o fuel a week.   This means most products only have 1 row and the shelf can't easily support the volume.   I actually interviewed there for grocery manager position earlier this year, because that's the one department that needs the most help, averaging about 90-100 holes a night(31 allowable)  but the current backup decided he wanted it after I interviewed, and is failing even harder.    Store manager not making the best decisions, clearly lol.  But yeah, most departments are failing there on a regular basis except for dairy & meat.  I believe they average somewhere around 200-250 holes on any given day.
