Uh, you guys all have great contracts. Here, you had to be hire back in like 1987 to get paid for any holiday.
Are you sure about that? Here, people who were hired before 1987 get paid 8 hours holiday pay. They get time and a half if they work on the holiday, and they get time and a half if they work over 32 hours. The 8 hours holiday pay counts as part of your hours for the week. People hired between 1987 and 2012 ( I'm not sure of the exact cutoff date) get the same thing except if they work on the holiday, they just get paid straight time. They still get overtime if they work over 32 hours. People hired after the 2012 cutoff date just get holiday pay, but it doesn't count towards your hours for the week. So they can work up to 40 hours before they get overtime.
Yeah, don't think I'd pay union dues for a contract without holiday pay at all if it's a right to work state. Holiday benefits got slashed here last contract going from time and a half to 1$ an hour for full time and 0.50$ an hour part time for all hired after that contract.

Yep, I'm sure. The exact date to be hired before for paid holidays is 7/5/87. I was hired after that, so I get all of 0 paid holidays. For me, they are literally just another day of the week.
In my local everyone but courtesy clerks gets holiday pay immediately. That's probably the second best thing about our contract. (First best being that part timers can get self-insured after 9 months.)
