We've lost a couple people recently and some people have had to stay over to cover shifts, but our dept. managers have had to cut 60 hours off next weeks schedule. All I can say is WTF? Between the 2 departments we have a total of 11 people and of those a couple can only work certain hours. BTW were a huge store with our sales constantly in the $500,000+ weekly, yet we aren't getting extra help with Thanksgiving on the way.
500k is pretty small volume honestly. There's something with ELMS always cutting hours during the holidays and I don't understand it. Every department has that. Like, they'll give you extra hours 2 weeks ahead of time, but the week before and the week of you're cut way back. It's dumb.

Yeah, when I read 500k, I thought that's big? When they open up the liquor store next year, they're expecting our store to do 2 million a week. We're not even a Markerplace store either.

The highest volume kroger store does 2.2m a week right now, that includes liquor & RX, but not including fuel. If you're expected to do 2m a week, you must be in one of the top grossing ones out there. I'm guessing you probably have at least 4 co managers lol. The highest in my division is only doing 1.3-1.4m and that's a marketplace.
500k is pretty big here in southern WV, it's probably more, but to cut hours when some of your people can only work certain hours and you only have 4 people to run a dept. that's busy enough and should have 6 a day, I don't get it.

My store is usually in the 500k-600k range weekly and we have 7 people in the bakery, and 11 people in the deli right now. Granted, some of the deli people are on sick leave and a couple are on probation still but I can't imagine running those 2 depts. together with only 11 people.
I'm assuming that in your store, of that 11 most are deli or cross trained. But OMFG.
I thought we had it bad over here, holy moly, only 11 in both depts combined? I will never complain again.
The hours have been inconsistent over here as well. A few weeks ago, I was pushing 30, last week, I got 16 hours (2 of those hours was because they asked me to come in earlier since they were understaffed). The deli is extremely busy considering the store's location, and they hired some others after me. So far, two have quit. LOL. We recently got Boar's Head and we were expecting our hours to go up even slightly. Yeah, nope.
You would think that they would give the deli/bakery more hours during the holidays especially.I mean, they want deli to sell a full Thanksgiving dinner, FFS.
