Does anyone else have a department head who basically does nothing, then tries to act as if they're the only hard working one in the department?
And I got bitched at today by her for texting her on her day off. It was one little text, as much as she plays with her phone while she's at work I didn't think it would be a problem.

The current grocery manager here is that way, he used to work really hard, now he's delegated most of the physical labor off to others, but still keeps the same attitude as you're describing. He purposely never takes an "official" break, to use that to further his position that he's the hardest worker. Unofficial breaks all the time in the office though lol.

That's how our grocery manager is. He'll show up at the store an hour early and clock in, and he waits for the grocery truck to come. Then he'll leave early (circa 4:30 am) and dump everything on the night crew lead. It's amazing what a little extra power and a $3 premium will do to a once-hard-working grocery clerk.

My grocery mgr is that way. Sits upstairs all day on the computer or just chatting with my comanager who's also worthless. And doesn't even do a good job of ordering for being upstairs all day.
Sadly enough, my dept head is the terrible too. Wouldn't be as bad for me if I wasn't his backup. Means I end up doing more work than him by far, which is ok since once he leaves or gets demoted or fired, I'll probably take his place, so I'll be doing pretty much the same job I already am.

Mhm, our new FE manager is exactly like this. Sits around on the computer upstairs, listens to music, watches YouTube vids, stashes her personal belongings in the office, etc etc. but bitches at us if we so much as have our cell phone charging ("Kroger doesn't pay you to charge your phone"), or have water bottles behind the front desk. Oddly enough she seems quite personable outside work, but the moment she clocks in, she becomes the very embodiment of Professor Umbridge. Hopefully she'll be moved soon, as our QueVision scores are way below what they used to be under our old manager, despite the countless hours she "works on the schedule".

Everyone in my department has complained about her, but she is in the pockets of 2 out of the 3 comanagers. The third one knows some of her um... issues... but most people don't like him because he isn't the outgoing "cool" type the other 2 are.
She spends most of the day in the HR person's office, and when she isn't there is playing with her phone all day. She thinks she's the only one who does any work when in reality, she does none of it. She messes up cake orders and leaves most for others to do. She takes most of the day when it's time to make the schedule, which I can't believe is that hard to make when one person bakes all 5 days, and she always works 7-3s with one 12-8 thrown in there.

I would talk to your store manager. What do they think of her?
