Best Way to get rid of Ice?

so here lately I've been having 3 to 4 pallets of ice in the freezer at one time because the company keeps Distributing it. This past time I barely put a dent in the one I had ordered a few weeks ago and then last week they sent another pallet of the same size bag. It already takes me about a month to get rid of one pallet due to ice not being a huge item right now so how do I go about getting rid of these things quicker when they keep sending them???

I'm not sure of how that item is set up in CAO for you, but on the off chance this isn't being distro'd but is being auto-ordered instead, make sure your min isnt too high and your boh isn't too low. Also, make sure to review the order it's going out on before it's sent.

ice at our store is a vendor item that is scan based when they have to much ice here they call the company to come pick up the unwanted ice

maybe it's the same at your store try finding out who delivers and call them

It's a vendor item here too, we stock it but they come and drop off the pallet. Luckily now ice movement is non existent so we don't have to keep it in the freezer. If it's a vendor item at your store too just talk to management and have them adjust it.

If it's ordered by CAO, do as tech said. Set your minimums low, and take it off of the orders when you see it trying to pick it up. Every order should be reviewed anyway, and seeing ice on the list should tip you off(assuming it's not vendor)

Have a 10 for $3 sale!  :)

If it is a vendor item, let your store manager know.  A good manager will let a vendor know that you do not have space to store their stale product.

I have seen a note in the Receiving area before that said, "Do not let joe smith from ABC company deliver anything until they speak to management."

I have been able to change the BOH on DSD items in Item maintenance.

We've had to refuse deliveries from our vendors before.   Just leave a note to your DSD Receiving clerk to refuse ice for a while.   No need to even go to store management(but it might be beneficial to let them know what's up).

Vendor relations at my store are often very tense. I once had a co-manager make a Nabisco girl cry when he found out that she drug a pallet to the aisle. A lot of vendors actually receive a tiny commission on the products they stock, so they will always push to get bigger orders, which may explain the excess ice. One thing I know for sure is that they HATE having to take back any products if they aren't the ones actually driving the truck. Think of what a fun conversation it would be if you accidentally over-ordered a product, and the nearest Kroger truck to pick it back up was 20 miles away.
