Question about number of days off
Permalink

Hey everyone.  I've missed my employee manual, so I don't know where I can find the answer to this.

So I'm a university student and I occasionally have to do certain events that don't match my availability schedule.  I know how to request days off, but is there a limit to how often you can do this in a year or not?  It's not like I'm requesting entire weeks off, but it will be a couple of days per month.  In most cases it isn't the entire day that I need off either, so I feel like that should count also.

To my knowledge there is not. But they don't have to approve your time off. I would let your manager or whoever does your schedule know that certain days out of the month you need off. If she/he forgets there is a place on the request day off form to put in a comment.

I don't think there is a limit (unless it conflicts constantly with work and their needs), but you're not guaranteed either.

If you are familiar with e-schedule, you can put in for the days you need (provided it's a couple of weeks in advance). There's also a way to do it in there so that you can set your availability between certain times (I actually did this last year).

This has never worked out for me so be careful doing that.

There's no limit but also be aware you don't want to become a problem.  For full time people it's kinda of easier because they have to get two days off anyway.
