My cousin works for kroger corporate. And the way he sees it is like this: off the clock we are family. My word supercedes yours 90% of the time. However at work, it is STRICTLY a business relationship. Meaning, just because he's corporate does NOT mean I get special privileges, treatment, or help getting respect.
Anyone working at a corporate office rarely concern themselves with our petty situations.
If they have to take a field trip to your store, it's only because they have to. They have their own game going on, trying to appease their bosses, and keep their jobs intact.
Say my Aunt Sally works in accounting. What does she really know about the actual operations at a store level? Probably about as much as the average customer walking in and buying a gallon of milk.
So Aunt Sally goes to the division manager and says... "Hey, my nephew really got a raw deal the other day. He had to push carts in the rain, and pick up **** off the floor... and the FES was really mean to him... blah blah blah"
All I meant was I just wanted my relative who is a executive at Corporate just say they are related to me because when you have family who work IN the Kroger store with you then you get treated better ,so I thought that might work the same way with me having a relative who works at Corporate.
I have a family friend who is pretty high up, never got treated poorly, but definitely more friendly after people found out. I'd never use that fact when trying to advance my career though, merit based promotions are always the best way.
It's not a card I would play. Treat people the way you would like to be treated, and be your own person.
It could have the opposite effect if you go around saying "Oh.. my uncle so and so is q big wig at corporate" etc. You could end up getting a lot of resentment from those in your store.

And the topic of rumors. :)
I always thought the only way a part time employee could transfer stores is to quit and apply at the different store starting from scratch. Lose all senority and vacation time.
Well, I know of someone who's dad is some Kroger big wig and was transferred to a different store 7 miles away and still part time. I seriously doubt the person flushed 3 years senority down the toilet to make the transfer happen.
I don't care how and don't want to know the details. If the person is happy, I am happy for them.

That's...weird. What division are you in?
Here, there's no requirements to transfer at all, even out of state and out of division. Though if you transfer out of division you lose your seniority, but as long as you're within you don't lose anything.

No, unless your contract has some crazy stupid wording like that, you keep your seniority when transferring within your seniority area (division)

She was part time. They are not allowed to transfer under normal circumstances unless they reapply and start as a new hire. If there is drama, HR can make a transfer happen.
