Be careful what you wish for

Well a while back ago I had some arguments with my department head and me and a couple others wanted her to either change her attitude or leave.

We made up and I thought things were good with us and I found out today that she is being transferred to another store, a bigger and better one.

So now we're getting yet another department head.

I'm just a little sad now. This will be my 3rd department head in like 3 years (the first one retired) and I have no idea who's taking her place.

I'm tired of my store being treated as a training store. No one wants to stay here. We aren't a bad store, We're just out in the middle of nowhere (outside of the Cincy and Dayton areas).

So i'm just feeling kind of blah now. :(

I think this goes for a lot of stores. I know during my time with Kroger, we've had three different deli managers, two drug GM leads, and two grocery managers. As for management, only the manager is left of the original staff that I was hired under. Two went to a different store, one was transferred, one retired, and one was promoted to HR.

None of the managers are the same from when i was hired, the deli manager is different (but she was a major improvement), the produce manager, and grocery manager as well as lead dairy are all different.

It is true for a lot of stores. Ours has been the exception I guess. All of the managers(not leads) have been here since the store opened 12 years ago. It's a really great location for someone who is content in their job. If they're a go-getter they'll go for one of the bigger stores.

In even dumber news I found out our replacement is someone who HAS NEVER WORKED IN THE BAKERY BEFORE.

She was a deli employee who went into training to become a manager and has no idea how to do anything in the bakery.

Fanfreakingtastic. We have to train our own manager.

That's bad.  Anyone who has never worked in the bakery doesn't know just how long it takes to do certain things.  Cookie table low?  Okay, we'll get them out of the freezer, bake, cool, package, and put them out in 5 minutes.  I don't think so.  Try maybe 2 hours.  Are we out of a certain type of bread?  Try maybe 4 hours or longer if we have to get the dough out of the freezer.  If the dough is already thawed out, I can have something proofed, baked and cooled in 3 hours.

You have two of my managers that I want back! One of them tried to get me to transfer to the pharmacy over there. Pass. Too much of a drive and they'll leave anyways!
