Union pay

UFCW 700 president Joe Chorpenning got a raise from $193.000 to $256.000 in one year, 2012 to 2013! The union also gave a union retiree a new Cadillac upon retirement! Lowest paid union rep was $47,000! Plus lots of benefits! Their pay raises should be same percentages we get. Don't work for Kroger, get a union job!

That is exactly where everyone's union dues are going!  They don't do anything for the employees!

The only time I have ever heard anything remotely about this company that I thought was good news financially was when that CEO or whomever it was refused his $12 million salary. I thought that was a classy move, even he could see that was bullcrap when so many of us on the lowest rung of the ladder have to struggle to buy groceries each week--and all while working in a goddamned grocery store!

They don't do anything for the employees. I've worked for Kroger since I was 21 years old. I am 34 now, so after over 12 years I am making all of $9.90 an hour. I was making over $10 in 2009 so my pay went backwards after a transfer in 2013. Thanks for looking out for my rights Union.

Got a part time job for Pepsi who don't have a union by the way and I got paid more for part time with Pepsi on my first day than I do with Kroger after 12 years. I am making nearly 4 dollars more on the hour with Pepsi. So tell me again, Why do I pay union dues?

The UFCW sometimes (maybe often) does a disservice to the cause of unionism.  A Local 1000 business agent takes $77,000 a year, yet makes himself unavailable to members and even stewards.  It's a sad day when a very pro-union member has to begin to consider a failure-to-represent case with the NLRB.

If the Teamsters were interested in representing us, I'd vote today to decertify UFCW Local 1000 based on the rotten wages and, even worse, the poor service/unresponsiveness to members.
