I wanted to introduce myself. I worked for King Soopers for 7 years. I left in mid December of 2014 and have not looked back. I was the General Merchandise Manager for a large store that did 1+ million a week.
I left the company as I felt Kroger in general is heading into a road I could no longer follow, not to mention the stress. I had to remind myself when my bosses would stress out about something silly and I'd juts laugh it off. "Guys, its a grocery store, not the CIA. I think we can calm down a bit".
Anyway, I wanted to see if anyone had questions I could answer from a management point. I am no longer affiliated with Kroger and was an at-will employee and have nothing to hide. Only Kroger questions please!

From what I have heard and gathered throughout the years, Kroger depends on the applications of people wanting to get a job. It wasn't until recently, the company as a whole started having issues getting applications.
I was constantly told from upper management, if I had a problem with my clerks, to write them up until they quit. They were easily replaced. I have a heart and never did that. They are after the all mighty dollar. They don't have to give them benefits, no training, nothing.
Before I quit, I was told King Soopers had a 70% turnover rate within the 1st year. Due to pay, schedules mostly. The team was talking about pay raises but I talk to my ex-assistant often and that has no happened yet.
Will be interesting to see if Kroger follows the Walmart/Target pay raises. I doubt it.
