question about new contract.

some people get bonus checks for some reason and others don't its annoying as ever. the new contract apparently only gives checks to people who been there over 8 yrs or some such thing why is this. because 100 dollars is a lot of money that i don't get. and i don't know much about the contract but our managers and union person for our store suck.

It's probably paid to employees at the top pay rate on the scale. Our local does that too. It's basically little more than a bribe to get members to vote yes.

i regret joining the union.. those grandfathered in have a great deal, new employees not so much. i been at my store for over two yrs now and still never seen a contract, get told none was printed yet, or don't have it, etc. i think there is something in it to piss me off as a low seniority servant , or maybe something in it that is good for me but I am being kept in the dark to give advantage to others over me in rank. all i know is i'll never work for another union company again.. ok, come on in and have your 'telling me how great the union is' (probably cause you benefiting from it) rank folks...lol.

It seems like people think "grandfathered" employees are the great satan.
Yes, they have better pay and benefits, but they have worked hard and put up with more crap from Kroger than you can ever imagine.
You keep saying they have screwed all new hires with every contract. As a thirty-three year employee I can tell you I have voted no on every contract ever offered.
Part time employees at the lower levels of the contract far outnumber the grandfathered employees. If they would actually go to contract meetings and vote they could improve their standing. But the biggest majority of part timers don't go or are willing to go on strike so don't blame grandfathered employees for your low pay and no benefits.

I meant to say part timers are unwilling to go on strike.

Try your union website and see if the contract is posted there.  If not, you need to call the union and be persistant about getting a booklet.  They tried that with me for two years and they finally gave me one.  An old one since they just signed a new contract.  Wow, thanks union.    Check with your store union steward, they should have a copy.  Ask to borrow it and go to the service center and copy the whole damn thing.  They owe you a copy of the contract.

At my store, Local 400 BTW, only top rated employees got the bonus checks. Or as we called them "our bribe money!"  But don't think Kroger is being generous.  They tax the hell out of the checks.

They don't just "owe" you a copy of the contract, they're actually required by federal law to provide you one.
