Pre-employment question
Permalink

I was recently interviewed and offered a job at a local Kroger, and I'm currently waiting to hear back about my drug test. They (the recruiter) said that I would get an e-mail from Verification Inc.(?) about it, but I'm not sure if my sample needs to arrive at the facility first, or if the email comes first. It's been 3 days, and I didn't know if anyone else has had this problem.

What position did you apply for?

Will your sample come back clean or dirty?  Not worth gaming the system.  Asparagus and Vitamin C are a myth!

If you are certain it will be clean and free of illegal substances, then don't worry about it.

While you are waiting, go apply to other jobs.  You might stumble on something better.

In a week, call the recruiter and find out your status.  The hiring process takes time.  Be patient.

Good luck with it.

It took about a week for mine to come back (clean of course).

As long as you don't have a steady diet of poppy seed bagels (laugh as you may, I did test positive for opiates in my urine before because of poppy seeds), and as long as you weren't doing anything else, you'll be okay.

Good luck.

Kroger only does mouth swab drug test for pre employment. Absolutley nobody takes a urinalysis. the results will take less than 2 minutes to come back.

Sorry I was wrong. I've never heard of Kroger doing urinalysis. But based on my previous experience it will take up to a week.

No, but I would think that a swab test could pick up opiates in cases like that. But like I said, as long as you're clean and you know you're clean, you'll be fine.

The swab has to be sent off to the lab to be tested where I hired in.

Recently, new hires have been hired and CBT trained at a central store here.  I am not sure if they still use swabs or urine samples either.

It will be clean for sure. I am just nervous when it comes to certain things like employment and what not. Didn't know if a week was normal turn around.

I was the same way actually. It was ridiculous too--"what if someone used my name to commit crimes?! What if they switched my sample?! What if?!!!"

My thing was that I actually needed this job so I was extra nervous. Don't panic, and as it was said above me, I would try to apply elsewhere as well. If you're part time, and more than likely you are, you will find that Kroger may not give enough hours after the training period (I got 39 hours my first week). Not being a Debby Downer, it's unfortunately a fact.

Another poster had same issue.  I think it took 3 weeks from interview to being brought in for CBT training.

I personally like Kroger.  Other people think it is a madhouse for the insane.  Don't be in too much of a hurry to get in...

Call back about once a week to get updated.  Try to speak with same person each time.
