If you have been following my drama of "As The Home Depot Turns", you know that I called out on Tuesday for my scheduled shift on Wednesday.
My Front End Manager didn't like it, didn't like me telling her that it was because of my going to my other job which paid more.
She said she was going to take me off of the schedule.
Sure enough, next week is OFF on every one of my days.
I am calling the union rep on Monday and hopefully talking to my steward around the same time.
Instead of simply saying you were sick you said you were going to your other job?! I wouldn't bother to go back.
Well from their other thread they said there were already multiple conflicts in schedule despite telling them about the new job. How would they call in sick every day there's a conflict?
- I told the store manager about the new job
- I changed my availability two weeks ago
- I gave 24 hours notice
- This was my first call-out in all 14 months working there
I've done everything right.
She is being vindictive about the fact that I told her I was going to my other job.
Well, perhaps if Kroger had been able to give me enough money to live on, I wouldn't have had to take a second job.
A $90 check would disappear quickly when $60 of groceries were needed.
Well calm down now, you knew she was going to. Try to claim some hours, as many as you can, and if not they can just pay you the hours they took from you. Two days missed, two write ups at the most. Fight the first one or both. Then explain how you are willing and have always been willing to work around your Home Depot schedule as you need to be able to afford to earn a living wage. Explain how you are not trying to cause trouble, you just want to be able to afford basic necessities to live - like food, clothing, etc. (if you could manage to squeeze out a tear or two that would be great). Ask them if they approved your change of availability and if not why? Did you check online on greatpeople to see if it was approved? I would be all over them if they denied it and are holding you hostage there at 12 hours a week after 14 months of service. Check the schedules of people with less seniority and see what hours they are working, that way they can't tell you they don't have hours available. Read your contract and employee handbook and become familiar with them.
Also, do you have any vacation time? You need to try to take it if you do. (Not sure if courtesy clerks are allowed vacation time in your contract).
You need to decide if Kroger is worth the hassle that it has been and it will be. If you quit it's over, the union won't fight to get you the hours they took from you. You just need to decide if it's worth it. Talk with your union rep first and go from there.
The fun part was today -- she tried to physically intimidate me.
I came in and bought a hot dog and an energy drink at the deli counter. We have a small register kiosk for it.
FEM saw me come in and picked that exact time to go get a soda drink at the machine.
So she ended up standing next to me as I paid for my groceries.

Not a word spoken. But the message was obvious.
Take your receipt, go to the local library, and take a shot at the store's receipt tracker.
As long as you don't enter your Kroger card number for the fuel point bonus, they won't be able to track it back to you.
Not many things get store management/department heads in trouble as a bad receipt tracker score. Especially if the score keeps dropping and the comments are scathing.

i think youre looking into something that's not there.

Maybe not. When you work with someone for any length of time you learn how they act, react. You can pick up on their bad vibes.

Really? But is it "physically intimidating" to go and get a soda at the exact same time?

Depends on if she was in his "space". I wasn't there so I don't know.

If you knew this woman and her personality you would know that it was more than 'something that's not there.'

Slave, did you claim any hours? What's up with Kroger and the schedule?
I did not call the union on Monday -- I'm calling them Tuesday.
Have not claimed any hours this week; our store manager is out on vacation.
So it would have to be with my Front End Manager -- who is the cause of my current difficulties.

It's too late to claim any now that it's Monday night. The only way you're going to solve this is by taking whats yours and bumping the people below you, unless the union actually goes after her job which I doubt. They might provide you some great advice but you need to grab some hours too.
I am not sure I could have claimed hours though?
Each day on the schedule had me as OFF.
So I am not working this week.
I am going to call the union and see what I can get to happen.
I'm not really interested in getting her fired.
Just reprimanded or at least validated on my behalf.
I have done nothing wrong.
She has done everything wrong.
It doesn't matter if on the schedule it has you as off. Say you are off on Monday, look below you on the schedule for someone that has hours on Monday and claim them. You need to know your contract though. Ours you can claim daily and weekly schedule up to 40 hours a week. But you cannot claim hours from someone who has the same or less hours as you. It gets a little tricky. But with you off every single day (if they do it again) then claim whichever dang days you want! Our contract states you cannot claim hours outside of your availability. So if your availability is 6 am to 1 pm, that's the only time period you can claim someones hours. It sometimes hard to do say, if they are schedule 6 am to 2 pm, you can't claim it because you are only available until 1 pm.
Let us know what the union rep says. Did you ever check online to see if your change of availability was approved?

I think you're in ATL division. You can claim hours with any store manager that's there. Claiming of hours are kept in a manager's office folder for the union anyway.
The rules are it has to be shifts in your availability, they have to have at least 12 hrs after you take the shift. Do it in writing and before noon Saturday. Obviously that doesn't help you this week but next week...
They can take you off the schedule if there's not enough hours but this is something else, this could be harassment so talk to your union rep. See if there's anybody with less seniority working shifts that should've gone to you so you can show the union rep.
Frontend slave got fired he doesn't work at our kroger anymore which means no need to get the union involved.. But on the bright side he has that home depot job right across the street so he can visit anytime he wants.
I did not get fired, contrary to what the a-hole anon wants to post.
I was taken off of the schedule for this entire week, every day on my name is OFF.
I just e-mailed my union representative, Jeff, and asked him to contact me and provide assistance and advice.
Basically,
- I gave advanced notice (24 hours)
- I informed store management
- I changed my availability
And the Front End Manager took me off of the schedule as a result of my call out.
Our store manager is on vacation at the moment so I may have to wait for him to return.
I also have not taken any of my vacation, and have not had it mentioned, so I am going to see if we can get that to me as well.
I believe I am due lost wages for this week (and potentially next) and vacation time as well.
FES, when you get here, who the hell is this anon, they don't even know what they're talking about, lol
No idea, but they type like they just had a car accident and severe head trauma. Could be someone from my store but I seriously doubt it.
I have not been fired - not to my knowledge at least. I was still on the schedule this week. We will see what happens next week. I can't seem to access eSchedule though. I just called the union representative and e-mailed him as well.
I don't really want to fight the store with the union, but if it means pissing off or inconveniencing my Front End Manager, I am all for it. The woman is a mean, vindictive individual and should not be doing what she is doing.
You mean your former store 619 u worked at alexander cain whose name is on the schedule at our store but off the entire week that has happened recently but the week after the other persons name was gone because he got fired just like u did.
My Front End Manager didn't like it, didn't like me telling her that it was because of my going to my other job which paid more.

You straight up told the FEM that it was for the other job? You are so boned. As far as Kroger is concerned, they should be your priority. Home Depot feels the same way in the sam situation. Forget talking to the Union Rep, you're going to lose that battle.
Look, let me give you a piece of advice: quit Kroger, and give up. You are probably a sh!t worker, you have a sh!t attitude, and it shows. You do nothing by whine, b!tch, moan and complain about how everyone is so mean to you, and so vindictive, and whenever someone brings up the possibility that you might be in the wrong, you spot this BS that you are God's gift to the front end. Take that trash out side where it belongs.

Aw yea, I have another fan! Suck on that, Sasha Cohen!
I'll take your advice to the trash. How's that for a compromise?

Sorry anon. Wrong again.
But don't worry, you will not go home empty handed.
You will take home a copy of our home game, "The Internet For Dummies." I'd say thanks for playing but I don't think anyone cared in the first place. Certainly not me.
So your not the same frontendslave that said in another post that u bought a hot dog & energy drink by the way it was a lemonlime powerade & got intimidated by your fem when she bought a drink at the same time but just stood there because if it was then your just lying on here so which is it Alexander Cain
Anon, just give it up already.
I'm not who you say I am.
If you want to continue chasing windmills, that's fine.
Just stop trying to make sure everyone other than Sancho knows it.
You are a coward, an idiot and indeed seeming as if you could be a sociopath.
But hey,---you work for Kroger. If you weren't at least one of those three, you wouldn't be working for them.
I think it's in the job description for a few of the departments.
Lmao the lies u tell on here seems like you don't want kroger store 619 to see this but it's good if your off work at homedepot tommorrow swing by on your bike around 4 so we can chat about your lies at Starbucks.

If there was a customer survey number on your receipt, then go to the library and anonymously fill out the survey, say your were "highly dissatisfied", and mention her harassment and mention her name. Customer surveys are anonymous, and she cannot prove it was you who made the comment.
