Just wondering. I was hired as a cashier but I'm usually never actually a cashier, I work drug gm a lot and sometimes I help the scan coordinator.
When I was hired they said I was guaranteed 16 hours at front end, so if I had 2 full shifts with drug gm and one half shift with the scan coordinator shouldn't I get at least 16 hours as a cashier?
Or is that not correct?
I never get that many hours even though my score as a cashier is great and Ive never had any complaints.
It's not guaranteed in a specific department since most are under the same contract, just total hours. My assumption is that front end doesn't have the hours to give and you are one of the lowest seniority employees, so they give your hours to other departments. It happens often here, the better part time cashiers always work in drug/gm, floral, & file maintenance.
ive actually been with them for 2 years but more recently ive been doing all those different departments.
which i dont really get since i have one of the best cashier scores in the store yet i never get any hours on register. all the newbies and people before me get about the same hours or lower but they're always on register.
the thing is my fem bitches about cutting hours because of all the low scores their cashiers get so he has to cut hours. but i'm always 98+ above so wouldnt it make sense to put me on register and give the slower people the other jobs?
They usually use the other departments as ways to get better employees more hours that they can't get up front. I'm not sure why they didn't ask you about it though.
Wait a minute, you WANT to run the register instead of working gm? A lot of people view going back to the front as punishment, and for good reason. Someone is watching over you constantly and the break schedule is a pain in the alss.
I was hired as a cashier. It's just weird that I'm never a cashier when my scores are good. I don't actually like working front end but I want more than 20 hours a week.
