*lesigh* out of stock of staple deli items

We got a new manager in our deli and since she's been here, we've run out of things a lot sooner than we should.  For example, we ran out of Kowalski cole slaw (we sell oodles of that on a daily basis) and the truck wasn't due for another few days.

We had a customer come in and complain because we ran out of it.  Kowalski stuff tastes good, so I can understand her fury.  Now correct me if I'm wrong, but  this is usually the job of the manager to make sure we have enough product to ensure we don't run out several days before the delivery is due.  We've had issues with running out of product maybe a day or two before truck comes, but a week.  Really?

This manager has other issues, and I just want to give her the benefit of the doubt since she's new, but she's making it very hard especially since I rarely ever see her more than a couple of times during my shift.

I heard they got in on account of seniority, and nothing more.  Wouldn't it make sense to pick someone who has knowledge of the deli and the like, and not just because someone has been there longer? >.<

Has this new manager ever worked in the deli before?  If not then she should have never been given the job, seniority or not.  If she does have deli experience, then the assistant deli manager needs to get with her and explain how often and how much product to order because just because something sells well at one store doesn't mean it's going to sell well at another store.  Her store might not even carry the Kowalski cole slaw.

What is this "assistant deli manager" you speak of? I don't think we have one of those. We have a couple of people who have knowledge of the ordering system and the like (as they were managers before), but that's about as close as it gets. I'm serious. No one else really wants the position.

She did work in the deli before, but the way her former store was run apparently is like night and day. Because our staff is smaller, we pretty much pitch in with everything (or at least supposed to) except whatever the manager is responsible for (read: there is no such thing as a designated cook). She's been around long enough to know how fast the cole slaw goes in our store. We can easily go through several boxes a week.

If you had their red skin potato salad you probably wouldn't think so. disbelief Ugh.

I am very picky with my potato salads, so I haven't had any of their potato salads except the three-potato salad, which is not bad. Greek pasta salad and the elusive buffalo blue cheese salad are pretty tasty too. I've never had the cole slaw either, but it must be pretty good for it to go so quickly.
