how often are you allowed to ask time off?

im fairly new to kroger. been there about 3 months. in that time i have requested three days off, but one of them wasn't even a full day just a partial day. do they get mad if you ask off a lot? i mean, i work in deli and there are plenty of other people in the department. also i never miss work, ever. does it look bad to ask off a lot? they schedule me to close at least 4 nights a week and sometimes i have things to do at night.

There's no rule, just as it's a request on your part. If they don't want you taking off, they can deny your request. Will they get mad if you request off a lot? Probably. If you can't work those hours regularly, change your availability so you are not scheduled during that time period. If you have your availability open and you continually request off, that's a bad thing on your end. Life is about priorities and since work pays the bills, it's usually in your best interest to schedule your life around work.

yeah. i have my availability open but when they **** up everyones schedules on the regular sometimes i don't really have a choice but to ask off if it is an important event. i know work is important but im a human too and i just wanna get the most out of my life as possible. im not a slave to kroger. ha

Kroger knows very little about work/life balance, so if you can, just set your availability if there are days you know you'll need off.

two thing I always do with my department workers.

place your request on e-schedule or there is little chance I will remember or even let one have it off. if you do then I will generally give the day off if it does not conflict with another request for the same day with more seniority.

Second thing is I have them go in and change there availability for that week.

problem you may have is this. Limits to a schedule can and will effect your ability to become full time.

But if you are in a department that is well staffed and request off done in a timely manor , thru e-schedule, then there should not be any problem unless a more senior person requests the same time off or you have a bad or vindictive department head.

Making the request on eschedule is key. Doing the schedule is hell already, even without the 900 little scraps of paper with requests on them. Eschedule requests got priority(and seniority obviously), and I told that to every front end person.
