I will be starting a new job soon and only want to be available on the weekends at Kroger. However, I'm not interested in working full shifts all the time.. I know it may be different according to the different areas, but does anyone know of a minimum number of hours you "have" to work?
I've only heard of Kroger needing to give you at least 12, but is it possible to work less than that?
I think because of your contract, they kind of have to give you 12. You could try to set it up and talk with them to see if they can do 4 hour days, but you'd have to do a minimum of 3 days a week at that since you have to give you at least 4 hours per shift. Otherwise, you may just have to talk with the HR Manager if the store you want to apply to and see what they say.
We stumbled into this in my store (Atlanta division) and the choices were 12 hours or off the schedule for the week according to the union.
honestly I've had some people I didn't even want to see 12 hrs a week as they're so counter productive. I can't wait to see what the new "best fit" hiring system brings in.

It brings in ****. So far 90% of the people, it's brought in, couldn't even pass the drug test.
