Requested Personal Day

Can Kroger deny personal day requests? I requested Sunday off because i'm going to Cedar Point. I already bought tickets and fast lane plus passes because fast lane sells out pretty quickly. If I do get scheduled, i'm going to have to call off since they are non-refundable.

My schedule doesn't even come out until Friday which is stupid since that's 2 days before the next work week starts...

I guess we'll see what happens

If you do call out, make sure you DO NOT post ANY pics of yourself at the park. At least not right away.
Make sure you have a damn good explanation to being out. If it's "illness" make sure you sound sick.
Be prepared to bring a doctor's note; worse case scenario
Hopefully you didn't let your co-workers know of your plans to go to the park. If you did let them know, and you call out, it CAN and WILL raise red flags.

I love it when people ask whether or not they should do something they know God damned well they're going to do anyway.

Just say ¨well, this is what Imma be up to; whaddaya think of that?¨

Under my contract they have a month to grand a personal day after request.  Normally they try to just go with it but sometimes you have dumb ass schedule writers... now, if they're short staffed, they might try to push it off.

When you make a request, put in preplanned travel, doctor's appt... something so they'll be more likely to try to work around it. We do look at that when reviewing the requests while making schedules.  People who are out of town or something get treated better than blind requests.

without more information then you will only get a generic answer. First thing to know is if there was ever a request made on the E-schedule request. if it is not made before noon on Monday then it is not done and management will look at it as a non-request.

If made on the E=schedule then they have to give a reason for any decline.

Now it then also comes down to what your contract states and your store management team wants to do. Local 540 contract states that you need to give a two week notice in writing  for a personal paid day off. have never really had to do that and seldom ever seen that done. Usually it just takes a verbal request to the management and department head to get one.

But if you wait until the last moment to request a day then do not expect it to happen. I just do not deny and request off to my workers if it is done in a timely manor threw e-schedule.  If management does not want it to happen then I have enough time and will use a little know item in our contract to help get them the time off. Our OT comes on a 6th day or fourth hours. I can work them four 10 hour days and fix it if given the request in a timely manor.

But as another said before me. If you just take off then do not post picture or make calls that can get you in trouble and go from an excused absence to an unexcused on or even a no-call/no-show or job abandonment.
