I am currently deparment head of Nutrition/Natural foods. I make $7.75 an hour. only 35 cents more than your average employee. I am still labeled part time getting 25-39 hours a week. Through further research I have found department heads make between 13 and 17 dollars an hour. Shouldn't I be making this?
Depends on your contract. For us, leads are only given to nutrition if weekly sales are over 10k, and judging by the amount of hours you have, you're likely the only employee in the department and thus don't really have a "lead" position, even if you've been assigned the responsibility of ordering the department. Also, leads premium are over top pay. So if you're technically a lead, it doesn't matter what pay you were at prior to becoming lead, it's simply top pay + the premium.
If you're unsure, just go to HRExpress and see what your job title is.
Basically they want you to do the work of a lead or department head but not actually pay you the wages of a lead or department head. If you're not being compensated for doing more work and having more responsibility then don't do it.

You need to look at your contract. Our contract gives the hourly rate, plus job description of all positions at Kroger. Find the job description/title in your union contact, and ask for that pay. Kroger has to pay you for the work if you are in the union, you may be able to get back pay. Talk to a union rep asap and get a copy of your contract!!

first thing is this. You want an honest answer here then supply a better question or supply more information. Are you in a union operated kroger or non-union one. What location are you in. KMA or state and city area. what local are you under and the contract if one is applied?
Where I am at the Nutrition/Natural foods is not a department head but a sub under the Produce department. Without looking up a contract then one can not give you any honest answer to that question. If you are not under a contract then good luck on this one.
