Distribution Warehouse

How would one go from working in a store to getting a job at a Kroger warehouse/distribution center? I have worked in retail many years, and I have about had it with the public. I have a few years in with Kroger, so would like to try all possible options before I turn in my two weeks notice. Right now I am pt, and don't see that changing anytime soon, I get the worst hours as well, and have to put up with lazy co-workers that are so ancient I don't know who was there first, them or the Kroger company. All in all it's been a pain in the ass. I have never worked at a place so full of bull**** and stupidity in my life, and I have even worked at Walmart, and even it wasn't as bad. Honestly, with the way the place is ran and the quality of many (no a all, of course) of the workers (management, leads, & dept heads included) it's a wonder it's not all closed down long ago. Anyway, I see no way to move up at all, and I do not have decades to get that all important seniority, I'm an older chap. So, anyone know how to go about applying for a warehouse job with Kroger? I need ft, I have bills too. I know, the advice will probably be just leave, but like I said, I want to see about my options.

I just Googled and found krogerwarehousejobs.com ---------just scanned over it to confirm I was in the right place------you should try that first, as well as call corporate at 1-866-221-4141 and check any leads on that end. I totally understand your frustration and I think you're on to a great idea there.

Moving from a store environment to a warehouse is a little different than "customers vs no customers." They won't even hire you in my area without a forklift license. Nevertheless, a warehouse is a very hazardous, large, loud work environment. New people work freezer (which explains the always-****ty frozen pallets for you). You need open availability, you will likely work non-standard shift lengths (i.e. 10-14 hours) more often than not. Above all you will run your ass off to meet the pick quota. Kroger's unrealistic standards are alive and well in the distribution center. If at all possible, try to be a checker. These people expend less energy than your everyday light bulb. Their job is just counting what comes in and leaves the center. A fantastic job, but very hard to actually get. Last but not least you will put up with co-workers who may not be "customer centric." You'd be surprised what an ******* someone can be if nobody is there to call them out. Be cautious.
