Am getting tired of microwavable noodles, wondering if y'all have any other quick but healthier (though, pretty much anything is healthier than sodium-in-a-box) choices. I don't have a car, so can't go to fast-food places, eat, and be back before the 30 minutes hits.
I normally eat Kroger brand sandwiches, chips, or deli chicken. I try to keep it around $3 max. It's just easier to buy things there than make stuff before going.
Some of the older people actually bring stuff in lunchboxes.

I'm both striving for a healthier diet and involved in a lot of athletics, so I go for simple things like chicken breast lunch meat, yogurt, cottage cheese salt free peanuts, wheat products....and lots of fresh fruit and veggies. All found in your stores, and all much healthier and cheaper than fast food!
I used to either bring leftovers from home, or get one of those microwavable pizzas. Once in a while, I'd grab some popcorn chicken from the deli, but ONLY if it's fresh, so if I'm craving it that day, I just made a batch right before I go on break.

I usually bring a sandwich from home (i'm one of the old people with a lunchbox already, omg lol) but if not i buy a bollilo roll from our bin and go to the salad bar and get some chicken salad to go with it. Like the poster above said, it's a good lunch for under $2. If not that i might get an asiago bagel. today i had a cheese stick and a mini pack of powdered donuts though.
I usually buy one of those frozen meals because they're cheap. But, if I'm wanting something different, I'll buy a sandwich from the deli. However, I ALWAYS eat a yogurt and some fruit with my lunch.
I usually go for a couple packets of roasted nuts and whatever non-water drink is on the 10 for 10 sale near the front, but I usually only get 15 minutes.
I eat the Kroger brand sausage biscuits with a can of soda before my shift starts and read a book, or chat with a buddy if they are present in the break room. For breaks, I almost always get a pop, and usually the Kroger flatbread pizza slices, occassionally those forty-cent burritos, candy, fifty-cent bag of chips, beef jerky stick, or if I'm really hungry a turkey sandwich from the deli. 15 minutes is stupid. First of all, you shouldn't have to clock out for a break and you should be able to buy food before your break "starts." Also at my store you have to buy stuff for break through U-Scan which means waiting 2-5 minutes.
I don't want to sound bad about it, but I always took an extra five minutes when that happened.
You clock out, run like heck to get a drink and something to eat, then have to wait a few minutes at U-scan.
By the time you make it to the break room you've lost at least five minutes.
Sometimes I used to get there early and buy my meal before hand.
But I didn't always have the time or opportunity to do so.
Whatever protein bar is on sale for $1 and a powerade. If I'm working an 8-hour shift I'll get one of the frozen meals in the natural foods department. (The Evol brand ones are really good.) I'm almost always on my own so I can get away with being on break longer and I haven't clocked out for a break since I started...
