How long should it take to do a single pallet?

I work at a Ruler Foods store and to me it seems as if it takes forever to finish just one dry pallet. For me it takes about two hours to finish a tall pallet. How long should it take and how long does it take you? Also some friends of mine, who work at Aldi's, say that they have a time requirement to finish a pallet in 20 minutes. How is that even possible. Am I just really slow and if so are there any tips on how to be faster?

It realllllly depends what's on the pallet. An entire 8 foot pallet of canned goods? Probably a solid 2 hours at least. Chips? 20-30 minutes.

Don't compare yourself with Aldi.  They stock differently.  They slice case top off and stack it in piles on the floor.  They don't have shelves per se.

Times are just as DeltaGrocery said.

It takes me about an hour plus just to run 8' pallets of juice, pop and water.  But, I use the power jack and it goes fast when the pallet isn't falling over.  I go back and condition later.

If you had a clicker to count cases, very good is running 60 cases of 01 grocery and 45 cases of 69 grocery per hour.

One thing that helps me running the canned aisle faster is:  Having a pallet jack with a guard that rolls smoothly and a sharp cutter.  I tie a plastic bag to the guard and have a large bascart for cardboard.  I used to have to change my cutter blade every day and filled 2-3 plastic bags full each shift.

I was assigned the canned veggie aisle.  And, it took the whole shift because we were # 1 store in state.  I run the high shelf products off the pallet.  I cut plastic off and spot low shelf products.  After all the pallets are run, I condition everything and run the low shelf products.

What aisles do you run mostly?  I have different techniques for different aisles.  How do you get trucks?  Do you do double trucks?  Does the 01 and 69 grocery description make sense to you?

You're not gonna like this, but it doesn't take two hours to run a full pallet of ANY thing.

lol.  I cordially disagree.  Some of those kmp pallets are monsters and can weigh 2000#.  With the crappy pallet jacks, just dragging the pallet around can wear a healthy person out.  Kmp are small packages and stacked 8' solid with products.  There could easily be 200 cases on a kmp pallet.  I ain't throwing 100 cases an hour when I have seen coworkers throw 30 cases an hour.

It takes me 3 hours to work a tall stacked lunchmeat pallet. When im working it im adjusting numbers to reduce backstock. You're gonna tell me you can throw a pallet in 2 hours along with helping customers and theowing your boxes away? I call horse****.

Ummm, drug gm pallets are not aisle ready and are full of red dot items, minimum is 2 hours, sometimes 4, and that's if you're a pro
