I just got hired at Kroger for the Night File Clerk - I am going into orientation tomorrow. Anyone know what I will be doing exactly.... that is not in the description? I work in Kentucky. What can you tell me about this position? They said my orientation is only 2 hours long... what will I be doing?
If you are not the lead then you will simply "hang" tags. You will: learn what the numbers on the tags mean (location info, upc), learn the tag types (retail,sale/bib,event). The main thing is knowing where the products are in the store. You could be taught to do other things, but to start it's simply placing the tags on the shelf.
former file clerk here.
-Change price tags on the shelves, which is usually 2 overnights a week
-Hang sale signs and other promo signs (ceiling, walls, entrance doors, break room, etc)
-Scan and make new signs
-Change out the weekly ads at the doors and the registers
-During the week, help with price changes required on other items
-Print temporary tags and order new ones for tags that have been destroyed or messed up
-Tag the promo aisles
-Do weekly scan checks. I forget what it's called exactly.. but basically there's a schedule and each week you are responsible for scanning every item in a section of the store to make sure the prices and tags match up. Each store is required a certain amount of scans per week.
-Probably you will also have to ring register on days you are not needed
