Is it normal practice to fire an employee still within the probation period by leaving them off schedule but never telling them that they are being let go?

No, if they're going to fire you, they'll do it while you're on the clock. At least that's the way they're suppose to do it. They won't do it over the phone either. Even if you have zero hours, if your name is still on the schedule, you are still employed. If your name isn't on the schedule, I'd ask why.
So that's weird because my names still on schedule but zero hours and HR express says a separation when no one else store level has said anything about that.
I think that's a weird way to manage employees. I'be showed up forall shifts before this and no prior write ups.
No one at the store or in my department has actually let me know about this. Shouldn't someone inform me if this is true instead of just avoiding my questions about why I have zero hours on the schedule?
I was left off the schedule for a month, asked why, got no answer multiple times, went to the union who strung me along for another month, never was told I was fired, never quit, never could get anyone to talk to me. I had 4 months of almost 40 hr weeks in and finally I went to the store manager myself who insisted that I walked off the job, which was BS.
Kroger is absolutely the most f**ked place I have ever worked. Not just in my situation but they treat employees like crap. And the union is a scam and a joke.
