Treatment of older employees
Permalink

Is it me or has anyone else noticed that it seems like management is treating its senior employees more like crap.  I've seen one of them fight management due to management deciding that it's ok to stock and run register and so of course they're gonna be pissy with that person when they file grievance after grievance.  I just get the feel that they want them gone and that's scares me because it's gonna be up to us younger generation to fight back.  Either it's in my mind or they want them gone so they can kill off the union.  I don't exactly like our union and I'm not sure they understand what little influence they have left but after talking to employees in the pharmacy where they're not unionized I can only imagine how worse it would be. If they union does ever go away, dept heads will be salary 10 hours a day and six days a week just watch.

My union already treats newer employees like **** when it comes to benefits. People who were hired 5 years ago have a ****ing ton of more benefits than those of us who started working there <5 years. It makes me want to quit sometimes but then I wonder where the **** I'm going to go without having to start over and work my way up to premium shifts. **** this company and our pussy ass faggot unions

I agree that older employees are being treated bad. And kroger does want the union gone. Certain older employees does not get treated too bad but other older employees gets treated like crap. I have thirty years and I have been treated real bad the last seven years and I have finally made up my mind this is my last year to work. I made it to where I will get a good pension and social security and I will go out with thirty one years. I am so happy that I will be free because kroger is not the same kroger I started out with. Kroger used to be a good place to work but not now. I am glad that I can get out but I feel for the people who cannot retire yet.

I saw it when I worked there and my guess is they want them gone because they make more and have benefits. No appreciation and treated like crap.

This is also a problem at King Soopers which is a division of Kroger in Colorado, from the looks of this it is not only a problem at one particular Kroger division, it is happening at every Kroger Division in the United States....Sounds to me like all local unions at all kroger divisions need to get together and do something about this....I wonder if UFCW International is reading this blog....if not....they should.
