Has anyone ever heard of anyone getting paid mileage pay for being transferred to another store?
Because I have had several people tell me that I should be getting mileage pay, and that they personally know of people who have fought for it and got it. But when I asked the union steward in the store about it, she pretty much bitched me out for asking (which was VERY odd) and she told me that as a department head, they can transfer you "anywhere in the division from Wapakoneta (there's actually no store even in that town) to Northern Kentucky... which i know is definitely NOT true, because they have to keep you in the district. But basically i know she told me a bunch of crap.
Then again, i also know that a lot of department heads are transferred around everywhere and i never really expected any mileage pay going into this at all. But again, i've had several people (in more than one store) tell me that i should be getting this. But I can't find anything in the contract either so does anyone know about this?
In my district, and I would assume division as a whole, employees are eligible for mileage pay only when traveling to another store for a meeting/training/assist with a grand opening or re-grand opening due to a major remodel/covering a vacation or some other temporary situation. Those that are department heads or back-ups that get transferred "permanently" to another store aren't eligible.
If there is a co-manager at your store that you are on good terms with and have a positive work relationship with, ask him/her to look into it for you. It may be different in your area.
