Unlawful Termination

Here's the thing. I've only been with Kroger for a month, and don't get me wrong "I like my job" but I recently moved a bit further away due to personal reasons, therefore I have had a few tardys (may I add that I use public transportation) but it's not in my nature, and I'm a hard worker. My question is, how can the union help me get my job back. Since I was recently let go, with out any verbal or written warning. Thanks

Call your union rep, or email them, if they aren't calling you back cal the union and speak to their supervisor so they can force your rep to contact you. Mention that you are paying union dues, and things like this is why. You pay dues They broke policy if they never gave you a write up before

You may have been on a probationary period so, rules might be a little different,  just call and tel your rep what happened

Kroger can terminate you for any reason without warning during your probationary period and the union can't - and won't - do a thing. Sorry, but your best bet is to look for a new job.

What is unlawful about it?

I feel bad for you for being terminated.  I feel worse that you are groveling for the job back.

The company, like any company, needs people that are reliable.  If it meant catching the bus an hour earlier, then you should have done that.

If you were on probation, they can terminate you at any time before your probation is up for no reason in most states.  After you are off probation, that is when the union has a little more bite.

I recommend searching for a new job.

I wish you the best in finding a better job.

If you are on probation Kroger can fire you for anything from a fart to a piece of lint on your shirt. Nothing you can do. However if you are off probation, then by all means fight it.
