So.... is this true about the HR position
Permalink

So i've heard that corporate is doing away with the HR/ARM/whatever it's called in your store position. I heard that the ARMs were told today that as of mid May their job titles are gone. But idk how true this is.

so if it is true, whats happening to them? Are they being fired? Are they becoming co-managers? Are they going to be stepped down into department head positions? blankstare

Haven't heard about this rumor either. Although as of few months ago the dude that was in HR that hired me on, he stepped down into Front End supervisor I think it is(as I'm never quite sure who are the peeps up that way with the little vests on half the time).

And not sure if it's common or not. But there was a open hiring event where they served pizza the other day. And I know when I've walked passed the conference room upstairs, it looked like more managers were talking with potential employees.

So not sure if any of that relates to what you are talking about 4hr or not. But really has me curious. Cause how can they get any of the HR stuff done with no HR people to begin with?

I'm not sure. I've just heard that the co-managers are going to be sharing the responsibilities now. i'm still not sure what to think about this because i haven't heard anything else about this today but our HR was off today.

Stuff is all changed around at our store. But HR still has stuff to do. I have heard about changes but mainly compliance issues.

So... i found out today this is true. I heard it from my store manager herself.

The HR position is being... "phased out" at least in my division. They were given the option to either become co-managers, pharmacy techs, or clicklist supervisors. i don't know why those 3 options but i guess that's the best comparative in pay rates.

This is going to be a nightmare because now the co-managers are going to be doing everything that the HR person did before.

Store manager to oversee.

One co to do HR

One co to do Merchandising

One co to handle misc/OT/sales

Make the salaried people work more, and save money on paying someone hourly :)

What division because I am a hourly hr person and need to know if my job is going to phase out.

Cincy/Dayton. I'm in what's now district 1 but I would assume this is division wide at least. The really crappy part is these people weren't even given a 30 day notice... This is all going down in like 2 or 3 weeks...

Wow. I'm in the Columbus division and we almost always follow the Cincinnati division. Guess I should prepare because they have been training our hr manager a whole lot the las few weeks.

HR is not rocket science. Anyone can do it. This was inevitable. Anyone can be a manager too. It takes simple skills. Everything can be automated. Go STEM!

For as long as I've worked for Kroger, stores in my area never had a store position designated strictly as "HR". I've worked at multiple Kroger stores in the Southwest Division and here, one of the co-managers has always been in charge of HR matters. If the co-manager over HR leaves or transfers or whatever, then another co-manager is simply assigned the role.
