Minimum you can work and keep your job?

I've seen some people work once a month or something while they're at school in order to keep their job at Kroger.  What is the minimum you can do?

Once a month?! How is that even possible?! As for me personally being able to work any kind of minimum is truly a no can do. I mean even with just trying to schedule me 2 days for one week. They knew they needed me as per usual there was a ton of call offs and couldn't suffer to not call me in.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean?

This is no exaggeration.  We had this woman in our department who got a doctor's note and was off for six months.  She worked two days, got another doctor's note and was off for a year.  She came back and worked maybe four days and got another note and was off for another year.  She worked two days and then never came back.  For about two or three years her name would be listed on the  schedule but you never saw her.

I just meant, I didn't see how it was possible for someone to only work once a month. When from my own personal experience and seeing it through how I had been scheduled for just 2 days in a week before(a Sunday and Friday, with days in between that said I was off).

It didn't really last all that long though, as they kept calling and needing me to come in to cover for someone. So I went from working 2 days up to working 4 or so that week.

Was she related to someone higher up in the store? Cause if not, that is totally crazy. O_O

No, she just had really good doctors.  The policy for the Louisville division is you can take off for up to 90 days at a time with a doctor's note.  You can extend that time in 90-day increments for up to a total of two years.  You can also take an educational leave if you're going away to school.  It lasts as long as the school session lasts and you must report back to work within 7 days after the school session is over.  During the time you are off, you do not accumulate any time towards vacations, personal days, raises, etc.  They just save your spot for when you come back.
